could Holland beat France?

Zarf, what we have now is Obama and a liberal horde, and an organized political party that will meet them more than halfway if it thinks that is popular.

What we need is a political organization dedicated to stopping liberalism.

We won't get it by cooperating with the middle-roaders.

If he actually... no  I won't say it, he'd do it.

"1: While in office, Obama could change various laws in order to deliberately allow Democrats to get in office easier in 2012.  For example, the Fairness Doctrine, changes in voting requirements, changes in campaign financing laws, etc., could create a de facto system that locks down elections in favor of Democrats due to demographic trends."

That could be fought and overcome.

"2: Obama doesn't need to appeal the entire nation to win again in 2012.  He only needs to appease enough people to get the majority of the electoral college.  As long as he appeases particular populations, he can win regardless of what is done in other regions."

I'm mad that a liberal can even get 45% of the country in polls.  Clearly we have failed to educate people about liberalism.  If they really will propel a liberal into office they must bear responsibility for it.

"3: You also assume that his policies would be short term failures, rather than long term ones.  A good example of this would be education.  If you assume that his policy would be a failure in the end (I'm not debating whether Obama will be a failure for this thread), nobody would see the negative effects for a long time, because it takes time for the education system to generate results.  The same can be applied for such areas as health care, technology research, and even foreign policy."

Whatever policies he puts in place can be undone by an opposition truly determined to undo them.

"Not only that, you're deliberately voting disingenuously, which completely undermines the democratic process.  When you vote for somebody, you endorse that person's future actions over the next four years, as opposed to the actions of that person's opponents.  If you endorse someone even though you know they'll screw up the country, that president's future wrongs can be blamed squarely on you, even if you weren't a large enough influence in the election."

That's exactly why I'm no longer a Republican and why I won't vote McCain.  I won't vote Obama.  I think I'll leave that slot blank.

Besides I don't think this is going to be close, really.

you guys know you can literally kill yourselves doing that?

That's how it worked in 1994.  There is also the benefit that the country as a whole will learn better than republicans can teach, apparently, that liberalism is a failure.

But let's not fool ourselves:  It was the Republican majority who defeated the conservative agenda in this time and place.  And until those "Republicans In Name Only" go, we cannot "win".

oh snap..

Ok Ok THIS IS THE DOUBLE POST THAT SHOULD BE CLOSED  yeah that's it

whoop de crap, we have more CO2 so it doesn't matter our "poor" have cable and drive a car?

No. WILL NOT.  Nobody has the right or power to demand you prove you need it.  You declare you need it and that's that.  You get it.

That "poor" family has a standard of living much better than a "poor" family anywhere in the world, for example France, 18000 French people died because they had no air conditionng, in the USA an air conditioner costs $99 in a country where the minimum wage is $7.00/hour, you work a week you got your air conditioner, and all apts have to have electricity.  700 people died in a heat wave in Chicago but most of them were exercsing outdoors without drinking water.

if our "poor" taught themselves Excel and Word at libraries for free, they would gain the skills not to be "poor".  So few of them bother.  If you don't hustle and improve yourself you stay "poor" in america, but if you hustle you will better yourself.

I don't know about your country but in USA you can borrow money for education and often for healthcare, and emergency healthcare is free, and there's assistance for the very poor

but when everybody feels entitled then we'll destroy our society.

they take 20% out of my paycheck before I get it, then I pay 8% for all purchases, and 30% of my fuel goes to taxes, and 1% of my phone bill I dunno why, there's no  govt investment in phone networks it's all private, I have to pay to mail anything, I pay 5% of the value of my car to the state for the privilege of driving it legally, and now they want to tax $0.25 per bag at the grocery and maybe start allowing home taxes to increase more t han 2% a year.  And for what?  So illegal aliens can camp out at ERs for the sniffles while paying $0.00 on their under the table cash takehome pay, and we're building a $40 billion maglev train from LA to Vegas because I guess a 1 hr flight for $100 was crimping on the casino take.  If asking the CASINOS to buy that freaking train instead of ME is selfish then call me Caligula

Actually what Clausewitz and Sun Tzu would complain about the USA is our "king" eg the People is too fickle to run a good war.  "We" can't keep focused on the goals.  It's pointless to tinker with tactics and operational aspects of war if we keep flipping the strategic goals.

In economic terms, the taxpayer is required by the State to take on a burden for others who WILL NOT support themselves.

So a better analogy would be asking us to honor military commanders who set up suicide missions for their men.

>>McCain wasnt born in the US,he cant be president.<<

He was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and given the recent Supreme Court decision in Hamdan v. US regarding Guantanamo Bay detainees, which said the Constitution applies whereever our armed forces operate, they'd probably say he met the definition of native-born.

He's not standing with his hand over his heart while they recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

It's a real pic, the campaign acknowledged it, and said it happened because Obama grew up in Kenya and wasn't taught American civics.

LOL bash Fox which is honest if slanted

CBS-- aired forged National Guard documents attacking Bush
NBC--staged a truck explosion with fireworks to attack General Motors
BBC-- aired phony leak of info to attack Blair (Greenglass)
ABC--staged food contamination to attack Food Lion stores
AFP--aired altered footage to attack Israel (Dura affair)
AP --aired doctored footage to attack Israel (Lebanon photoshopping)

the KKK always issues an endorsement and nobody who gets it ever asked for it or welcomes it...at least not since the 1920s
but I'm glad it went to Obama, maybe from now on the Dems won't use it in attacks but I doubt they'll allow themselves to remember this

"Your ass is inexperienced."

uhh yeah I lack anal experiences...what about--no. no I don't wanna know.

"meeting without preconditions"

Obama was asked that point blank in the second Democratic debate and he said yes.

It speaks to his inexperience.

Look we all know that even in a world war, through intermediaries, some flunky is going to call the enemy and ask if they've had enough or what they're after anyhow.

But the President is the rock star of our government, and if he's in one place, then obviously he is nowhere else.  If he's in Iran that week, he's not in Paris or Uganda or Rome or Moscow or Beijing or London or Brasilia or back in Washington noodging Congress over his legislation.

So for the President to make talking to Iran more important than anything else that week, the meeting better be productive as possible and really worth it.  The President shouldnt' go somewhere just to "air concerns and hear points of view", aka being told to take a flying leap at himself.  Obama doesn't seem to understand that.
