I could describe my views with one word: liberal, in particular as the word is defined as an adjective in the following definitions: 1. favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs 2. favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties. 3. favoring or permitting freedom of action, esp. with respect to matters of personal belief or expression: a liberal policy toward dissident artists and writers 4. of or pertaining to representational forms of government rather than aristocracies and monarchies 4. free from prejudice or bigotry; tolerant: a liberal attitude toward foreigners. 5. open-minded or tolerant, esp. free of or not bound by traditional or conventional ideas, values, etc.
("liberal." Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). Random House, Inc. 08 Jun. 2008. <Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/liberal>.)
Moreover, I also describe myself as a 'liberal' as the word is defined as a noun following definitions:
1. a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties [ant: conservative]
2. a person who favors an economic theory of laissez-faire and self-regulating markets
However, I would go on to describe myself as individualistic, as in an advocate of individualism, as defined as 1. a social theory advocating the liberty, rights, or independent action of the individual. 2. the principle or habit of or belief in independent thought or action. 3. the pursuit of individual rather than common or collective interests; egoism.
I would likewise hold to the doctrines of individualism as they are described by the American Heritage dictionary: 1. A doctrine advocating freedom from government regulation in the pursuit of a person's economic goals. 4. A doctrine holding that the interests of the individual should take precedence over the interests of the state or social group.
Finally, I would say that political anarchy, according to its literal meaning of 'lack of a leader', and as it is defined in the following definition is desirable: 1. a theory that regards the absence of all direct or coercive government as a political ideal and that proposes the cooperative and voluntary association of individuals and groups as the principal mode of organized society.
Thus, in one or two words, I would call myself: individualistic, liberal, and anarchistic - three spectrums, if you will, with liberal in the center.
