"Just because the jokes are inevitable does not mean I should ignore or condone them."
Is that a quote from a Muslim after the cartoons? Since when did you get so emotional anyway? People die everyday for various reasons not all of them being to old. These few people only make the dif for you because its hyped. You know one of them?

One of the few sensible things I see here:
"I don't see what's so offensive about joking about royals. If you aren't embarrassed enough already that you have royals, I don't see what harm a little "who cares what happens to them" attitude can do."
I don't get it either btw Justinian. They have that flue coming so no way to worry about the prices of houses just yet.

Its kinda harsh to put all systems in one basket. But I'll argue later about the difference between the US system and an absolute regime.

You have a point tough all democractic systems on earth are to a certain extend plutocracies.

there is just a lack of competition. I'm not angry at bill for being rich, he's an economic genius, I would have done the same if I could. But I am angry he cut back progress since almost the start of the commercial pc. There is no real alternative. Linux and mac DO have major drawbacks as well.

As most of the leaders. He does a lot of bad things I agree, but this he does no different as any other leader of that importance. As I said before we focus to much on one person while most probably there is a group behind this person with influence pulling the strings. Those are the ones who make large money out of the tax payers pockets. (in this case American tax payers money going straight to the rich elites pockets thx to Obama's rescue plans)

Let companies who f up f up. They will be bought cheaply by another company who might do better. Otherwise that  company will be next. Its one way the market deals with incompetence and corruption. It might not be perfect but at least we don't have to pay for others who f up.

Its all a conspiracy... to cover us never been to the moon! And Obama is just a puppet from Thunderbirds (a TV program for kids) who was never allowed to play because of his color! I should check out those sensation papers daily instead of just once in 2 years waiting for the doctor. I would learn a great deal more lol

"Fortunately, Americans have things called "primaries", giving them (give or take) twelve or so options."
the people who voted bush were prolly not involved in his opponents ellection. But I gave an example thats all. There are other examples of a stupid vote for a smart leader or a smart vote for a stupid one.

"How does it not make any sense?"
the connection was "stupid vote" not "stupid leader" I supposed. Because voting in a stupid leader could be smart if the alternative is worse (to give an example)

@firewing:
they voted it down themselves I think (tough I might be wrong here). In any case I separation hardly ever solves problems. Its often created by politicians for their own gain who then blame everything on a certain group (in this case English speaking humans) while often they are not the biggest problem.

People simply have problems blaming themselves.

Timmy:
"You cannot elect a moron like George W. Bush and then turn around and give advice to ANYBODY."
You actually have all good politicians this world produce in active service in your state? To name a few: Italians (berlusconi), russians(putin), Venezuelan(chavez) are all stupid? What you post just doesn't make sence. Belgium, my own country, has one of the worst govs atm. (altough to their defence circumstances aren't very friendly atm)

its basic instinct.(not the movie, put it back in your pens)

Think of it in pre-historic terms and translate back to modern times...
When you have "on excess" or when you have enough recources on excess you can waste some, you show you are a very efficient individual. Second you can show you're status in a groop wich again shows your capabilities. These people originally (and still) have more chance on survival of their blood.

In modern times its completely wasted except for the part where you work in order to try to reach it, wich is not always 100% effective but still the driving force behind our HR in our economy.
