Maybe a bit shallow, if you prefer it I can say "enter into a relationship" but the point is the same. Unless you let everyone know who you are then you can never do the things that will really make you happy. I'm sure telling your parents will be difficult, but however close minded they are I am sure they will come round to it eventually. You are still their child and they will love you all the same. Try to take the long term view even if it will be difficult in the short term.

I will admit, this is easy for me to say, I'm a middle class straight white male who has never experimented with drugs or caught an STD.

Morale is how you treat other people in my opinion, and he's doing a way better job at it than you.

johnwayne, I accept that you don't except homosexuality because it's a sin, but think about it. Who wrote on paper that homosexuality was a sin? Elderly businessmen (oops, I mean priests) who died over 1500 years ago. Don't you find it knid of suspicious that only ONE book has survived from that era of human history?

As for 60% only live to be 40 or 50, I would like to see where your getting those statistics. I know the death rate is higher for that demographic, but I think 60% is way off.

CanadianTire, congratz yea nice one but dont tell your parents in the car they may crash and yea total the car in shock tongue, i have a freind at work whos gay, he came out to his parents and yea they hated it for tthe first months but realised its still him, the same person and now they dont mind. Im a straight male and why would i stoop as low as to Judge anyone on their own lives!.

My gay freind at work has been asking for everybody's support on a site called www.bloodban.co.uk, basically gay men are banned from giving blood because they may have a higher chance of having aids with them both being men, but its the most stupid and idiotic rule ever, all blood is screened and that extra blood would save lives!
Just thought id add my gay freinds petition here aswell, coming out for you is great yea dont hide it, take it easy.

On one end you have a very small group of extreme heterosexuals and on the other end a small group of extreme homosexuals, but most of us are right in the middle of it..
Figures don't say anything, on their own. Did you know that more people drown when more icecream is sold? There's a strong correlation between those two, but one is not the cause of the other (in fact it's because it's summer then).

Besides, you love god, isn't that a bit homosexual too? (To be exact, there is a psychological study going on about that tongue)

On the telling your parents part... the time, decide it yourself... the place... make it a place where you can all get some time by yourselves afterwards...dont trap people in uncomfortable situations...they dont like that.

After you told em, give em time and space to deal with the idea. Allthough they may have suspected it, it is now confirmed... change of status quo. Arrange with a friend or something that you can sleep over for a week if needed... more than a week will probably not be needed, but anyways...its good to have a back-up plan.

Once again...congrats on coming out...the biggest step is accepting it yourself, cause in the end its only yourself you got to answer to.

Very simple I think. Gay couples are 99.7643% less likely to be forced into the relationship (due to unwanted pregnancy which tends to haunt straight couples often; or for another reason). So, no children means all the money you make, you spend on yourself/ family or friends. And if a gay couple does adopt or whatever, it's usually after length consideration... not after one night when they were too drunk to use a condom.

Thanks for the idea Damon. Arranging to spend time at a friends house (if need be) isn't something I had considered before, but I'll keep that in mind.
