Let me put this in IC terms for the ignorant.

Your family: 1000 planets, 10,000,000 NW #1 ranked NW/Size

Other Family: 75 planets, 750,000 NW #35 ranked NW/Size

You have planets 5 ticks from their home system on the left, and 6 ticks on the right. You have these from a war you did with the #2 family (The Soviets, hehehe)

You have fully portalled, have made it your goal to not farm anyone under 12th ranked (Only 12th cause it had someone you hated in it, otherwise you have not warred anyone or attacked anyone except the top 8, though you have knocked 5 families from the top 8 which means a total of 12 wars at this moment)

The small family sabs portals on your bankers (The only occupants of the systems) and then takes the planets. The banker manages to defend one due to massed lasers, and starts retaking, and exploring as he blows the planets. He says he wont do anything else, just leave him alone, and tries to explain how the difference is and how he dont wanna ruin their round, etc.

The small fam dont care for whatever reason. Oh I know you want a reason... ok the guy is a total jerk, makes 1/2 his fams income on the market, and without him they would be last. He just loves being a jerk, and ruining his fams by angering top fams...

So the small fam jumps agents, and nukes your poppers quite successfully, rather astonishingly well.

Now you can

A) Offer 100 planets for peace

B) Offer the 43 planets in the two systems for peace

C) Send an attacker to try to bump him off (And suffer about 70 more nukes over the next few days)

D) Have your whole family reverse coarse and jump to fight this dinky family

E) Bitch in Uni News (UN council hehe) and hope others mock the guy into submission

F) Tell yourself that you should have crushed the man the moment he touched your bankers, not tried being nice, and just got the job done, and now finally do what you should have done.

Talking with a fanatic will get you no where fast, in games and in RL. They will always want more, and will always seek to destroy you even if the odds are against them.

There is nothing wrong with talking to your enemies. Diplomacy can accomplish your goals with much less cost. What is wrong is giving huge concessions that weaken you but empower your enemy.

Flint, buy a copy of Sun Tzu's Art of War. I think you will be able to pick out a number of mistakes that Bush is making according to this timeless work on warfare. A prolonged war is one of them. Sun Tzu states that wars should be ended quickly and decisively, and prolonged wars avoided.

He was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and given the recent Supreme Court decision in Hamdan v. US regarding Guantanamo Bay detainees, which said the Constitution applies whereever our armed forces operate, they'd probably say he met the definition of native-born.

US-credit as the leader nation of the western world has reached a level of hate in most nations we call "the west". dictatorships are more and more in fashion, after even the USA has started to torture humans, imprison them with no rights and waging wars against international agreement with all their allies. we need a charming tour to show the world that democracy is the better choice than economic prosperty & total control (china, russia, vietnam...). there are again two systems fighting each other and this time we have the inferior cards. as long as the USA is not able to lead moralic, we will lose ground in this struggle. McCain ist republican, old and follows the old ways, leading to nowhere. no kind welcome in "Old europe". Obama would be worth a parade, because his smile can change a lot more than a few thousand soldiers more in iraq can ever achieve.

Gladiator. Our  voting system is based on a preferential system as with nearly all voting systems. You prefer option A to option B. This is why we hold the primaries to make the system more accurately reflect the desires of the public. It is also why adding a "loser" candidate can really hurt election turnouts from the standing of majority rule. See Arrow's impossibility theorem....
