Re: What can we do to save IC?

lets make Imperious Conquerer tongue

and no lol it will never be the same as IC, i've played tons of similiar games, but not of them have the charm/ awesomeness of IC ;_;

if this game dies.... so does my heart..

Rofl

Been dreaming, I've been waiting, To fly with those brave ponies
The Wonderbolts, their daring tricks, Spinning 'round and having kicks
Perform for crowds of thousands, They'll shower us with diamonds
The Wonderbolts will see me right here at the Gala!

Re: What can we do to save IC?

Firstly, this game can have an mobile version, but not as an app, but as a mobile friendly webpage, designed to be viewed on small screen..

Secondly, to reduce server load and save bandwidth, we would need to make basic info available to everybody.
Info like...seeing players on the map(and not being foced to click through dozens of systems and load dozens of pages) to find someone and see who are near you. Also, actions that require constantly reloading large pages and sending large sql querys(building on planets page) should be done using javascript, behind the scenes.

Overall, we need to take out the tedious time consuming part and replace it with strategy and thinking. Most people who began playing it, probably started when they didnt have a real job smile, and now time pushes on.

The whole map should be redesigned, so that it will be displayed as one piece...and maybe not even grouped into systems, but shattered dots.
And to make loading the map page faster...and significantly reduce the load on bandwidth, ic should sent out only planet/system coordinates, and let client side javascript/flash build the map.
(Maybe something like this http://devstorage.comuf.com/ImperialMapGen.swf?family=demo&password=demo&galaxy=milkyway )
use Ctrl to zoom out, and shift to zoom in, or mouse wheel, and click drag to move the map.)

Also, it would be cool to see your moving fleets on map, and possibly even redirect them to another destination, without resending them.

Re: What can we do to save IC?

what if virgo consisted of 2 families with mods as leaders ofc, thier goal simply to teach them, both families would always be at war, the mods would be unable to attack or go over 20 planets

the players would have to state thier role, and depending on thier role would have to produce a specific ammount or take 5 planets as an attacker to pass.

Re: What can we do to save IC?

This game belongs to the past we all know it, no way new players arrive with Stefan keeping the game for few $ a year.
Virgo has been removed because only accounts here where from ppl having their account blocked and deleted or creating multy, and finishing it in 2 days. Tutors were wasting their time.
Mods can only find ideas to try to lose players slower and developpers can't invest all their time for a game they don't own.
Only future for IC is a new owner or a new game inspired of IC but that won't be IC ofc...

'Success! The realm of Genesis has been reduced to dust! Our forces are leaving the planet though, as it is scheduled for demolition to make way for a new hyperspace bypass.'

Re: What can we do to save IC?

smarty's had a game starting, but with the same problems (no one wants to work for free) so... if IC did set up with FB, they could sell premium advertisement to gaming companies, and save our game.
the only other way is to make people pay to play... and we have seen how well that works.

I agree with these points.. IF IC is to prevail (and be aware that some day like all things, it will die), it needs to be made a little more accessible both to players (i.e. easier to check systems - even releasing VIP map functionality for general use), and to technologies. An iOS, Facebook, and Android app that simply layout the current schema of the game in a slightly different order would work - it doesn't have to have anything that the browser version does now, just needs to be marketed to a different audience. Attacking requires a lot of extra time and effort that shouldn't really be necessary, and though that does make for a niche of players who can use this to their advantage, it also works to discourage new players.

Another thought:
- MERGE GALAXIES.. Right now there are what, 400 IC players? A few years ago MW alone sported 1000+ players, so why divide 400 across 2 galaxies? Admittedly the game has changed in an effort to account for fewer players, but at some point you've got to count your losses and consolidate your assets.. Just MHO.

Good luck you poor poor misguided foohons tongue

RIP IC, you were fun while you lasted hmm

Re: What can we do to save IC?

Again, seeing as the players in PW are largely the same players as those in MW, merging the galaxies will not make them more populated.

And OD, old friend, I would have thought the void had gotten hold of you by now! Good to see you back once again!

Re: What can we do to save IC?

^ what he said, there are far less then 400 players atm

Re: What can we do to save IC?

if we all just got one person to try this game and stay one round, we would build this game to 1500 people by the end of next year.
