Topic: What can we do to save IC?

Just thinking what this game should have been by now...

I remember years ago when there were thousands of players.

I my self bought a few VIP codes because then there was the VIP gal which was pretty full. 

Now it is so empty in here I cannot believe it. 


By now this game should have had a new gal or two at least. 
Yet I keep seeing the same old little bugs/errors here and there and the lack of care taken in the finished product that was there years ago.

Also by now it should have had it's own little iphone/android app to play on.

In my mind IC was never invested in properly.  Okay we had the VIP income but what else?  IF Stefan (or who ever owns the game/server) had just wacked a few Adverts on a page here and there from Google or something then that would have helped nicely with the income.

Also I remember hearing about server issues all the time and how extra gals could not be done because the load on the server was too great...Come one please spare me that tosh.
This is purely a numbers game and the cost of getting a more powerful server is not that great.  I always felt it was just lazyness on the owner's behalf.


To be honest I think the only reason for this game dying the way it has is because of Stefan (or whoever owns it).

what the game needs is some investment in advertising, both getting our name out there and having some on this site.
+ something on the smart phone market.

We all know how addictive some of those FB games are and smart phone games.  a game like this should have stormed those markets long ago.  which in turn would have lead people here.

Sad to see it what it is now.

but would extra income make a change. that's what you need to find out.

Let players interact in the whole rebuilding proces of imperial conflict. Enter game awards or something, let everyone vote for ic. Atleast it will give the game more attention.

give players a free vip if you put them in your "ic promotion team", those players can get more people to play. Spam on websites/forums about the game, and will eventually generate more income. That vip wont cost you money, since its your own system.

They just need to make an apple/android app that connects people to this site in their web browser ... theres millions of people playing those lame Zynga games... I think it would give IC a lot more traffic

the problem is not and has never been in server power or extra galaxies.

what good would an extra galaxy do if there are no players to play in it?
the problem is in the fact that all through out the genre browser games are no longer popular because they don't have the graphics and depth real games have.

One thing for sure is the current model is not working mate...so IMHO extra income would have to be a step in the right direction.

The whole site/game needs an overhaul as it has remained the same looking for too long now.

more traffic is what is needed for this site.  However I do not think going around spamming on forums is the way to do it.

Everyone hates spam and as a member of another online forum I must say it does not look good if a company is sending out people to join up to sites to just post some crap about a game.

Seems a fair few posts were always blaming server power...but maybe that was just an excuse.

2 things on your 2nd point...
1st:
have you not heard about Facebook and their little crappy games like farmville and mafia wars?

rubbish graphics in those, browser based and no real depth.

2nd:
This is typical of the IC mod/owners...excuses.  nothing personal against you but when ever someone comes up with an idea everyone seems to find it far eaiser to say "oh no it wont work because of x,y and z".
there needs to be a change in the way people thing round here.

True which is why he really needs to release the rights to the game to someone else that would actually use it properly...seriously it cannot be making him any money right now?

he's not releasing the game
every euro it makes is profit cause he has free servers.

in the end, that is his decision.

and i agree that there are ways to promote this game, and facebook (although i hate facebook) is one of them.
I am not a developer, i dont know if it is possible to do that.

the game reached a limit we must realise it cannot go further, it is OUR game, like a small sect, all we must do is to improve the game according to our will and the limitations itself has.

I dont thik bringing new people will save the game, really, if you want to make this an app then u're talking about a new complet game. 

Lets talk about chess, nobody dared to bring new rules or new units to the ancient game, and still it's there all over the world.
This is an strategy text based game, deal with it.

And the game is dying...yes, everybody is dying after his 25th birthday, thats a human condition, the game will die only when Stefan dies, in the meanwhile, we have a platform and a community to enjoy, just like when you call a buddy and say "lets play chess", we sit in front of our comps and say "lets play IC"

Like when you buy a machinery and it works for 20 years, but after those 20 years its obsolete, but still works, you have the option of sending it to the junk yard, or you can keep it for secondary jobs, but there's no way you can turn it into a contemporary machinery, we just keep the game and play it with his limitations.

were crossing a problem, yea advertising is n option but the only possible way to do this is to pool money and do it ourselves, now who would chip in $5 to save this game? now here comes the better part. even as this would be our choice and our money, im pretty sure we could be sued just for spending money on advertising this game because in the books its money generated by the game so.... we have an owner that intends to let this game die big_smile

but unlike chess (not including blitz chess) this is a time based game involving invested time, prefferably every day... though that seems unlikely with a lot of you folks tongue

First thing I think is needed is to bring back virgo...... If you join now tou get thrown into a gal with all old vets.... and a lot don't care bout new players cause they take time and are pretty useless for the fam in their first round.... So people join, don't get any explanation how to play and got killed of or just don't rejoin the next round.

With a gal like virgo people can learn how to play..... Ofcourse there should be active tutors!!!! And little advertising won't hurt.... the game is complex enough to compete with the flashbased games on facebook and so..... Lot of people like to play those just to kill their time...... IC is a real good game....
It will hurt Stefans income but if the cash generated by the VIP's would be partly used for advertising there will be enough for some advertising. If you look how many play with a VIP...... I think big part of the comunity will buy an extra VIP when they know it will be used to get some extra players to the game.

Most of us have the age where not many you know are easily convinced to play a game online..... At least that's my experience. So that's not a way to get much more players.

i am actually doing what he says in this post right now, i dont care to invest time into someone who has no idea what they are doing, no idea if they plan to show up again, and no idea how to defend themselves. so they will be killed, the game almost demands this because the whole idea of war is to exploit the weakness of families

maybe he can put someone in charge of advertising on his own behalf?

or maybe if anybody here has their own website. then maybe they could put up an advertisment their?

also yeah I strongly disagree about adding more graphics into this game.
it doesn't need them, its as good as it needs to be now.
