If the soviets can build one that works, I'm sure the US can. But US border patrols need to work on their style some. I bet many of those soviet guards are still unemployed and you could hire some expertise for almost nothing.

On a more serious note isn't camera's in combination with software that recognizes human and a slightly larger and more mobile border patrol not more cost effective?

yeah, or a link to Wikipedia at least

You did a 5 year bump, lol. With the current level of activity, it might even be a topic from another page.

The new president wants to cancel tpp and renegotiate trade agreements. I'm not sure what to expect here. Feels like Obama's closing of Guantanamo. It might (or might not) happen eventually but nobody knows when.

"Ever seen monkeys play with their balls?"
A legit question, but shouldn't it be posted in the general forum? I could justify the ideas forum as well. Even strategy as it is meant as an educational forum more or less. Unless Monkeys and Balls are existing fams in IC, then it should be in community ofc.

Is there a mod to help us out here?

ps: Do I get my first tag in 20 years for helping somebody out?

@suicidal sushi
Only part of Turkey is in Europe geographically but they are hugely important to European countries in many ways.

"Socialism failed about 20 years ago. It took longer but capitalism is now showing similar situations now with so many saying FU to those who get wealthier at our detriment. Its only a matter of time befor Capitalism goes tits up, we have another world war before we finally decide being a good human is infact the best approach. "treat those around you how you wish to be treated yourself""
Isn't this perhaps, a very tiny little bit off topic?

"It also opened my eyes though. I had allways been supporting more direct democracy, but now i understand, that its only
possible up to a certain degree since unfortunatlly many many people simply believe what politicans tell them instead of being a little less lazy and making their own thoughts."
This is exactly what happened to me here.

"I'd gloat but I think the USA is headed in the same direction so we won't be able to exploit a fractured Europe"
I might be naive, but I think US and EU need one another. We share far more humanistic values as we like to admit. Together we can at least show the world there's an alternative for the totalitarian repression we see in eg Russia or China. People still want to live in the western world if they are left a choice.

Despite our differences, I think we should be allies rather then adversaries.

Despite the huge activity lately on IC's politics forum I see no topic about the brexit yet. Maybe I've overlooked it.

On a more serious note, I think they are stupid to vote leave. Lets look to Norway for an example:
To be able to trade with the EU, the EU poses a few conditions:
- Pay almost 1 Billion euro's each year for the EU in taxes
- Accept almost every law a EU country must accept
- Accept (economic) immigration.

Yet these are the arguments are pro-brexit campaigners used to convince the misguided English to leave.

For those unaware, they had a special deal with the EU on immigration and on the taxes they had to pay for the EU so both where in their favor. They will loose that. They will also loose their say in europe and have to fear the UK falling appart as Northern Ireland and Scotland want to stay in the EU and will demand a vote on them leaving UK as well.

"That peom wouldnt had been this widely known if it wouldnt have been illegal here."
and unnecessary. But I get your point.

"The few people who watch Böhmermanns show would had known it.. and thats it."
because its a bad show still big_smile

"Now it appears that the whole world knows it and the damage to Erdogan is by far bigger then it would had been if there wouldnt had been all this talking about it."
That is the beauty of it. He had no choice: let it go and appear weak or make a stand and appear weak.

"Well the "varoufake" was quiete genius, but i dislike most of his other stuff aswell."
agreed, that one was epic. Probably why it reached even me.
