in any case you can't be a good christian and love the lyrics from for instance Slayer. You can be a good christian and love his music, thats something else.

its an interesting topic nem, but like schniepel said, metal is to broad. I like metal myself but there is a lot of metal I dislike.

What you say makes sense, but even this effect has its limits. The time between production and consumption is not that long economically speaking.

LOL is all I can say. Its even funnier to see people being serious about this.

yes oil is rising again, but not at the speed of light. But if you calc the inflation, it can't do anything but go up. Think about it, it can't be as cheap as during the times when there was pure oil spouting out of the ground when you were digging a whole at the wrong place. Going under 30$ it will go under the production cost.

"the less confronting foreign policy of China"
If we go moral again, may I remind you they already have 1/5 of the pop in there own house alone? That itself is bad enough but I will not start to mention places like Tibet or African countries were they do the same as we Euros but then simply a little more excessive and open. I like the Chinese culture, hell I even speak mandarin and know characters, but don't tell me this about their gov.

@shniepel:
You mix up Americans, there gov, and their country. Bad generalizations this way.

@yell: "We supposedly learnt from their troubles.  Not anymore."
I don't get it yell. The US would win from any modern army if nukes were not involved. Every "big" army would have suffered big losses while occupying Afghanistan or Iraq. Even the Chinese. They simply would have accepted more casualties and would use "human waves" like V.kemp said (though he exaggerated, but never the less true).

@han:
"I see no reason to compete if there were no sexual prize"
exactly. Which is why you have an extra workforce in the group with less internal struggle. Internal struggle is beneficial to a certain extent for the survival of the group but only to a certain extend.

@east:
Not if you make the right math (the one with inflation and the real value of money).

@glad:
I cannot predict the future but as low as 10 seems illogical to me.

It is still lowering in price every day. I think pretty soon it will be at the bottom of its cycle. I'll hope to be in time to buy. Whats your opinion?

Also I think it will boost econ from here. I believe the econ will experience a serious revival next years.

a lot of social species have guy populations. It would surprise me if it has no "Darwin"-explanation. People who do not compete for sexual reproduction yet deliver service to a group seems perfectly logical to me.

Also notice how guy people have some (dis/ad)vantages and other interests as straight people. It might sound discriminating but it simply is that way.

roflmao@ the last 6 post.
Its becoming about the funniest thread ever...not that you have to do much effort for that.

I think the US might go trough very bad times sooner or later but will never cease to exist in the next centuries unless the world goes with it. It has very good cards no empire had before whether you like what its foreign policy is or not.

Even though progress is going at the speed of light, and none can predict the future, I would say its stable enough to survive future troubles.

I don't see the problem with France either. Prejudice and a false judgment.

@avo:
I don't agree with your opinion. I think a united defense and police system would would be a gain. It would allow us to save on both after the initial set-up cost. It would also make the EU stronger in foreign affairs. I'll give my plee for a unified econ later.

A united west might be an option in the future just, but we need to unify EU first.

1.) We NEED more EU.  It will disarm the nationalist cause for at least 10-20 years and stop a lot of costly separations and stupid struggles...  and save a lot of money.  Esp the army and police forces as a first step, but also the legal system should be unified.  It will be good for east European countries of which some suffer huge crime rates.

Get rid of the national govs all together otherwise nationalists will keep on causing troubles.
And swab the deck!

2.) The EU anthem is just fine.  Joy and freude don't have exactly the same meaning btw. But maybe we should ask a German to explain.

I HATE PIRATE DAY. Had to edit everything
