In order to fill some of the families with less players, Starburst will be delayed 2 days.  The new start date will be Sunday, June 21.

And we're back!  Here are the settings:

Size: 100x100 (last round 160x160)
Systems: 697 (722 last round)
Families: 8 (9)
Family size: 7 (Increased to 8 mid-round) (8)
Drafts: 1.  No race restrictions this round (previous 1 must be Camaar or Wardancer, 1 must be Partaxian, Revalon, or Quantam)
Max allies: 0 (same)
Length: 1.5 months (was 2.5 months)
Market:  2 days
Offensive Operations: 2 days (was 7 days)
Resources: 10x
Defense Stations: 3
Starting Sunday, June 21 (NOTE: Date was originally Friday, June 19, but was delayed two days)
Ending  Tuesday, July 21

Moreover, a number of other feature and rules changes should be noted for this round.
1: The Sentinel tag has been removed.
2: The inactive script will remove inactive players after 7 days, rather than after 14 days.
3: The 40% net worth rule will kick in after 24 hours of no attacks, rather than 72 hours of no attacks.

Moreover, the moderators will be changing their enforcement of a particular rule for this round only.  FOR THIS ROUND AND THIS GALAXY ONLY, THE MODERATORS WILL NOT BE ENFORCING RULES PROHIBITING ILLEGAL ALLIANCES.  Feel free to organize unofficial alliances and NAPs for this round and this galaxy only.  Moreover, although we cannot remove the official NAP system, moderators will be cancelling official NAPs once noticed or pointed out by players.  Be warned: this means a player who signed an official NAP can report it to a mod and have it removed... making official NAPs as reliable as an unofficial NAP.

Finally, because this is a testing round and a shorter round to provide the opportunity for us to work on some new toys, Stefan has determined that players currently holding a VIP should receive one extra month's time with their premium features.  Enjoy.

Please let the moderators know if you experience any bugs during this round.

In light of the delay in opening Starburst, we realize some players are likely dealing with wasted days with VIP accounts.  As such, all players with current VIP accounts have had an additional week added to their VIP time.

We apologize for the delays.

One extra family member spot has been added to all families in Starburst due to the galaxy filling up.

Holy crap!  I would have never guessed that Hillary Clinton would want to run for President!  What shocking news this is!

Third time's the charm on BOR dates!  To help the lower ranked families fill more, Starburst will not begin until March 27.  Note: The end of round is unaffected by this change.  Thank you for your patience.

Dead Kennedys, I haven't gotten nearly enough high-value military secrets from the community for IC to be considered torture.

So far, the most interesting part of this thread is that Flint's most recent post managed to be posted at an exact hour, to the second.  tongue

The difference is that if you're planning for a race riot, you won't suddenly find yourself in a position where a close ally was bit by a rioter, forcing you to shoot that ally.  As such, you can construct a more person-reliant survival plan, as long as those people are not sympathizers to the race riot.  CERTAIN friends may flip sides, but it's much easier to check that.

That being said, zombie apocalypses, like most any form of disaster, include many of the same elements: a need to forage for resources, a proper safehouse, etc.  In fact, FEMA had a big promotion campaign in which they suggested steps people can take to prepare themselves for a zombie apocalypse (which was also applicable to any other disaster).  So no, I don't doubt that they would look similar.

Well, since the cat's out of the bag...

My list didn't have 1 and 3, but noted that since it was a Furry convention, 4chan might be behind it.  I also noted that if it was ISIS, it's probably the closest they come to a diplomatic overture.  big_smile

Again... the Illuminati are clearly seeking advice from IC in figuring out how to run things.  smile

Okay, Flint... a suggestion.

Start from square 1.  Pretend Arby and I just flew in from Mars and have no idea of what the net neutrality debate is.  If we were to read your two posts, we'd get that there's something called net neutrality, someone had a proposal on it, and said proposal is terrible and evil.  That does not help anyone understand what's going on.  A bit more clarification may be necessary.  smile

To be fair, the view of the Caribbean from an airplane must be pretty neat, particularly during sunrise or sunset.  Maybe he just really wants his pilots to see it!  big_smile
