Fair play this is a good game

I think the US will go on to win and reach the quarter finals, while any team should be rightly proud of reaching the last 8 I do think its dissapointing to need a penalty to grind a result against Ghana - the US are ranked much higher and are not living up to the rank.

Yes I know lots of teams havent, England have been appalling, France were frankly a joke etc - Im just saying Bradley must have been over the moon to face Ghana instead of Germany but it hasnt worked out the walk over we all thought it would be for the USA.

Those statistics are fundamentally flawed

They account for those with medical insurance who apply for procedures, what about the millions with no insurance in America?

In England we also have private medical health, 95% of people with private medical care have their procedures within six months.

What we have in England is provision for those who cannot afford medical care, is it perfect? No, is it better then nothing? Most definatly.

I am not against private medical care, I have it, I can afford it (teachers are well paid in the UK) however if I lost my job and couldnt afford to go private I know that if I had a life threatening condition I could be seen within the hour at my local NHS hospital.

If it was something non life threatening I would at least know I had a chance of being seen rather then no hope.

I dont think Obama was actually trying to replace private health care, merely provide for those who cannot afford it.

If you have private medical care it will not affect you, you will still get the best treatment, what no American has ever done is explain why adding an additional layer of care for the poor in your country makes Obama evil?

I am addressing this at Avagardo, I have been informed the best way to deal with Kemp is just to ignore his whining.

TO be fair Chris only the first three games of a world cup can tie, its the group stages to give every team that has made the tournament enough time to show what they are capable of.

I personally find the group stages too cageym cant wait till the second round, straight knock out style. 90 mins, followed by 30 mins of extra time if its tied, followed by a penalty shoot out if needed!

To think, if all games were knock outs Spain, France and Germany (three of the best in the world apparently) would all be out yet USA and England who have both underperformed so far this tourny would still be in big_smile

Ah Kemp like most trolls you simply bore me now

Go away child and play with your toys rather then simply throwing them from your pram.

As to the health bill not being good enough east, I dont think it is. I agree with LP, he has taken a good idea and watered it down so much to appease those lined up against him that in fact it will do nothing and possibly cost him his presidency

Italy are very boring tonight.

Hell the world cup should get more exciting once its knockouts, no draws, no ties, just either win or let penalties decide!

To be fair isnt the whole world in debt? The US has 13 trillion dollars national debt at the moment....

Wow this isnt a dig but after all the clashes I have had with Einstein it suprises me to agree with him!

In the UK there was a huge interest in joining the Euro and Gordon Brown (the then chancellor) refused to let the country do it.
He argued the first decade would really define the currency, that a recession could spell disaster and that a country on its own currency had a better chance to emerge from any economic crash much stronger.

As it is even those Euro Zone countries not badly affected by the recession are now suffering from the Greece bail out and it looks like spain is set to follow.

That said the US national debt stands at 13 trillion and just found the ratio of debt to GDP is worse then Spains

We will still top the group, America played their hearts out and were good but we are a better team, I reckon we will top the group on goal difference

A fair result I think, I believe England to be better overall but its scoring that counts and USA certainly matched us. I think I reassess based on the result, both teams to reach the quarter finals - doubt either will get beyond unless changes to tactics are made.

Best game of the tournament so far smile

Say what you want about our goalkeepers mistake America have shown spirit to keep fighting.

I still fancy us for the win to be honest with you but would be very suprised if America didnt finish the group second and qualify for knock outs.

USA to make the quarter final i reckon!

Yeah V Kemp stop trolling in my threads i am interested in what others have to say on the issue. Dont reply please.

As to Obama, I genuinly think he had the best of intentions and he gives a really good speech, however his crippling inability to take action when it is needed is worrying.

A reduction in Nukes is good but we aint in the cold war anymore, the chances of nuclear obliteration are slim to non so it was a PR stunt more then anything.

During the BP crisis he spoke to Bono, Kelly Clarkson, CNN, The American people (in that order sadly) before thinking "oh right, lets go speak to BP".

The sad fact is it was his governments interference in BP safety procedure that caused this leak in the first place.

Health Care is contentious I know, no matter what facts and figures I come up with others will find facts and figures to support their view and no ones minds will be changed, however for such a huge policy for Obama he needed to unite enough support. He didnt. It will fail. You have to understand no matter your beliefs that for a Euro, seeing a world leader say "hey guys, how about we help poor people and those in poverty in our country by allowing them medical care" and then not being able to get any support, makes him look very weak.

As to fixing Americas standing in the world, well the "Special Relationship" has been declared dead by our ruling party, Russia is pissed again etc the only country he seems to have impressed is France and frankly....youre welcome to them!

The more he speaks the more to me he seems to be realising he is a one term president, a lot of the rhetoric now seems to be about how he would have done this and would have done that, almost hoping the history books pair him up with kennedy, kennedy stopped by a bullet, Obama stopped by those mean bullying republicans!

Imperial......yeah ya did lol

Wow....

I find Obama is not living up to expected standards.

When he first started he went round in a blaze of glory trying to sort out Americas standing in the world.

Since then he seems to be failing, he cannot unite a country behind a health bill that would bring away from its third world medical status.

The BP disaster has shown his failings dealing with a true crisis. He has waited six weeks before he spoke to BP, he has failed to address accusations that it was HIS administration that held BP back from making safety alterations.

He seems determined to walk around with his top button undone to prove he is cool but overall I cannot be the only one getting tired of him?

As someone who had a friend die in this tragedy how dare you try to use it as some sort of dick measuring contest you foul minded [person on Imperial Conflict].

Secondly, what me and most of those affected by feel happy with is a)this is the first time in 13 years something like this has happened and the government is already working to tighten up gun controls.

Get bent. That is all.

Actually i apologise, in this case the Daily Mail seems half right (though the only 3 papers reporting this are all owned by the same man)

"Mr Eeles' operation was cancelled only twice

(67 replies, posted in Politics)

Yes it turns out this story was bollocks invented by the daily mail - the only time surgery can be cancelled due to health concerns is if the risk of death outweighs the gain in the quality of life.

This is the same daily mail who claimed that fallout 3 had been created by Al Quieda to brain wash Americans into nuking washington.

"Right, a country where you can be denied surgery on a broken arm because you smoke."

That has never happened in this country.....ever.

Seriously....ever!

Some lefties were suggesting that as smokers drain the NHS they should be made to go private but it was very quickly shouted down.

Behind Hong Kong? Still ahead of you tongue

The CIA statistics office rates the USA as 34th best life expectancy rate, behind many countries with nationalised health.

The great source of wikipedia ranks the USA at 38th - So a site run by leftist liberals makes you 38th but your own CIA ranks you 34th,

Now i am no expert but in the UK with our shambolic health system the CIA ranks us 25th.....thats better then 34th right?
