commonnnnnnnn tie
If Argentina wins the World Cup, which will be the more remarkable coaching accomplishment by Diego Maradona, leading Argentina to victory or nearly failing to qualify with so outstanding a talent pool at his disposal?
If the success of South American teams continues, will that continent finally get six automatic bids to the World Cup (presently it has four, plus the opportunity to play a North American team for a fifth slot)?
If Africa is unable to qualify more than two of six teams in a tournament played in Africa, will that continent finally be limited to four automatic bids (currently it has five, with six teams participating this year because South Africa, as the host, received an automatic bid)?
If Africa's poor showing continues, will their be rioting, as there was in several African nations that crashed out of the 1998 tournament?
After what he witnessed while coaching France in Euro-2008, why did Raymond Domenech think that Eric Abidal could succeed at center-back in this World Cup?
By what multiple of three would Nigeria have defeated Greece if that Nigerian player had not been sent off?
Who put up a no-trespassing sign on the right flank of the U.S. attacking end during the first half of today's U.S.-Slovenia match?
How clever was it for Landon Donovan to figure out that the way to cope with the soaring new ball being used in the World Cup is to dribble close to the goal-keeper and then hit a rising blast over his head and into the top of the goal?
If the U.S. fails to advance out of the group stages, will President Obama coerce that Maliian referee to create a fund with which to compensate American fans who bought tickets for the next round?
If a nation of two millions people like Slovenia can produce a decent national side, why can't a nation of 300 million people produce a good holding midfielder?

Anyhow, the 2010 cup seems to be the cup for the underdogs!:)
i disagree.... it wasnt a surprise that he didnt get a card for it, and if he had gotten a yellow, it wouldnt of been a surprise, but a red would of been a big overreaction...
i wonder if it speaks to the gap between the best and worst teams shrinking... the worst ranked team in the tourney performed pretty damn well against Brazil and Spain lost to Switserland... it seems like gone are the days where a team can have a practically guarenteed win..
guys guys, it's FOOTBALL, not SOCCER, ok?
You cannot be good at one sport if you cannot even call it by its real name.
You americans are so confusing, you call football to a sport where
1. There ain't a real ball, just a melon, balls are round, right?
2. The melon goes from one player's hand to another player's hand, and at some point they use the feet to kick the melon god knows why
So in the best of cases your supersport should be called HandMelon, never football, ok? ![]()

guys guys, its PRISON, no BRITAIN, ok?
you cannot fix your country being a prison until you admit it is one.
you brits call are so confusing, you call a prison, a country where
1. more actions are recorded by security camera's in Britain then in any other prison
2. you lack the most basic rights, such as the right to bear arms
So in the best case you are all prisoners and britain should be called a prison, ok? ![]()
lol yes I agree, Britain is a prison
I am from Spain, and yes.....Spain is like a large ladies club I know
i dont know what Spain is other then a land infested with babies that cant handle a little pressure, that claim to be men.

A rough tackle gets a yellow card. Mistaking someones head for the ball and hitting it with an elbow, thats a red card.
I think that the major nations need to refresh their main eleven players. There is to much reliance on the old veterans that are nearing their end. A lot of national selections are nearing their end and are being outstaged by younger teams. This is why Holland will win the cup, plenty of eager young players both on the pitch
continue the World War 2 debat, i liked that more then some soccer game.
0-0 1st half. Damn camping Japs!
now just 2 more goals
. (atleast that's what i was hoping for)
Lol, you had a bet on this game?:p Best bet wouldve been 1-0 cause the Japs were bound to go camp on their side of the field.
lol na not a bet just for this poule thingy. and yeah, now i've seen how the japs play i'd have said 1-0 or possibly 2-0. but not 3-0 :\.
honestly I don't think of japanese as "japs" unless we're talking about the war
then its "Jap infantry" "jap warships" "jap-held islands" "jap grenades" "jap tanks" "jap planes" "jap cities" "jap casualties"
thank God I went to University of California in the word processing era
japs made us lose indonesia, so we can call em japs
.

everyone raises their arms when jumping up for a header to protect themselves, he did nothing more...

I always think of the Japanese as "Japs".
Japs is minor racial slur, it could be edited ![]()
dont go Asiatic
lol or japs could be an abreviation for japanese
. and calling americans yankees and communists commies, is that racial slur too? ![]()
yeah I thought the point of the war was that Japanese WERENT a separate special race
TO be fair Chris only the first three games of a world cup can tie, its the group stages to give every team that has made the tournament enough time to show what they are capable of.
I personally find the group stages too cageym cant wait till the second round, straight knock out style. 90 mins, followed by 30 mins of extra time if its tied, followed by a penalty shoot out if needed!
To think, if all games were knock outs Spain, France and Germany (three of the best in the world apparently) would all be out yet USA and England who have both underperformed so far this tourny would still be in ![]()
