Each candidate captured 669 votes, but one ballot McDonald is sure would have gone his way never was cast. His wife, Katie, who works nights as a hospital patient care assistant and is finishing nurse's training at a local community college, didn't make it to the polls Tuesday.

"If she had just been able to get in to vote, we wouldn't be going through any of this," McDonald said. "You never think it will come down to one vote, but I'm here to tell you that it does."

You poor soul!

That is... perhaps the dumbest possible violation of the "don't threaten others" rule I have ever had the pleasure of reviewing.

Right, but often "part time" includes the legislature... that's the people making said laws... the guys on top!  tongue

I want to add in reply that, at least at the state level, many states don't employ full time politicians, maintaining a so-called "civilian legislature."  Yes, there's a full time governor, but many of the legislatures only operate for a small portion of the year, being paid an amount well below what would be required to maintain a living solely through their legislative work... in effect requiring they keep a second job.  tongue

No, but the sheer number of voters is much higher.  Not as much the African American population as the Hispanic population, but still...

Since when did the Republican party become defined only by social issues?

So, do you live in Washington or Colorado, cause the only way you could extrapolate this as a "never again" stance is if you spent all night huffing marijuana.

I was talking about votes on the state level, where the state electoral college never goes against the popular vote in their state, even though they're not required to go with the popular vote. Situations like 2000 can occur because voters per electoral vote is not the same across all states.
