I've been having a serious discussion with a leader of a rivaling fam about the content of my familypicture, wich is, in fact, Michelangelo's David. He wants me to remove it, cause a lot of parents don't want their children to see it (male nudity). I on the other hand claim it's the best piece of sculptural art we have today, and that it fits our family very well, namely: a small entity (in this case, our fam) ovecoming a large entity (the rest of the galaxy, who seems keen on attacking my fam).

So, the discussion comes down to this: Is Michelangelo's David art, or a depiction of a naked man?

I have some fascism-books (but Flemish- or Diets-fascist) inherited from my grandfather. On one hand, I'm very proud to have them, as they are really rare items. On the other hand, people give me awkward looks when they see them, so I'm kind of embarrassed about them tongue

That's bollocks. Making things up to look sophisticated, is stupidity in it's strongest form

No, the lightsource is always (afaik) placed where it fits the composition best. In a lot of paintings, they use multiple lightsources instead of one (El Greco, Picasso) to attract the attention to the most important parts. In paintings with a strong single lightsource, it's placed where it fits the composition best.

For example Caravaggio.
Lightsource from above:
http://tollelege.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/caravaggio_st_paul.jpg
Lightsource from the left:
http://www.lexscripta.com/graphics/Jerome/caravaggio.jpg
Lightsource from the right:
http://faculty.evansville.edu/rl29/art105/img/caravaggio_stmatthew.jpg

(Or we should assume he changed hands over time from left to right to some sort of upper hand or something like that.. tongue)

Delatour would make another good example.
Light from the left-ish side (but within the painting):
http://www.reproarte.com/files/images/T/tour_georges_de_la/die_reuige_magdalena.jpg
Light from the right-ish side (also withing the painting):
http://philippe.gambette.free.fr/Photos/MuseeBesancon/Georges%20de%20La%20Tour%20-%20Saint%20Joseph%20charpentier.jpg

Both artists worked very strongly with light. And it's not true with either of them. If light was so important to them, they would have adapted their composition to fit with their natural limitation, wouldn't they?

If such a statement was true, paintings would lose a lot of their artvalue.. It would mean that an artist couldn't put his own limitations aside. That would truely be something to cry for..

BTW: That would be funny with Da Vinci, as he switched hands in his life (he lost one of them or something). In that case, you could draw a line between his left hand work and his right hand work... tongue

Like arms also said more or less, it take a lot of investment in the lawbook idd. But without denying the huge price for that I think its worth it. Weren't you some kind of expert WFS or do I mix you up with somebody else of the IC-oldtimers metalheads? Anyway do you think it would be to much trouble if we just let them out?"

I'm no metalhead X( I'm not an Old-timer X(
The EU has tried to make a unified lawbook, but it failed miserably. Although the EU already makes about 90% of our laws in the first place, people don't seem ready for an international lawbook. To be honest, I was against the unified book as well, as it was too liberal and had too few social accents tongue

"What I mean is, what if the EU army becomes a toothless tiger because of the unwillingness of the major players like France and Germany to commit to offensive actions? I fear it will be only a peacekeeper army"

If we were assembling a European army, the European commission or parlement would decide about any action. That wouldn't make it a toothless tiger..

"I am for the death penalty for Pedophiles. Join me socialists in Europe and others around the world. Lets stop suing, and start killing via law. Then we can say without a doubt we did great good, and have scared all other would be pedophiles."

I disagree. I consider pedophiles as mentally ill people. Instead of executing them, they need to be researched, understood etc. so that we can spot and treat pedophiles better, so that they make less victims in the future. Hopefully, we can make the problem go away with that, in the end..

"well you are wrong muncher we are not all bi, it has to do with all the wickedness and depravity in the world, homosexuality is a sin ,because GOD say it is, it is an abomination unto the LORD, i do not hate CT but i cannot and will accept his life style, for it is wrong and only brings death to the soul and emotions, it goes against everything that is morale, did you  guys and girls know that 60 % of homosexuals only to be in their late 40's early 50's, their death rate is triple national standards."

We all are. Ever heard about a Gauss-curve? If not, the link is at the bottom of this post. Biologists and psychologists quite agree that it's applicable on sexuality as well. On one end you have a very small group of extreme heterosexuals and on the other end a small group of extreme homosexuals, but most of us are right in the middle of it..
Figures don't say anything, on their own. Did you know that more people drown when more icecream is sold? There's a strong correlation between those two, but one is not the cause of the other (in fact it's because it's summer then).

Besides, you love god, isn't that a bit homosexual too? (To be exact, there is a psychological study going on about that tongue)
