No matter you will have to pay the interest.. the bottom line is americans are spending and consuming more than they are paying for atm

Zarf you are misjudging the debt.

The point is not the debt itself, the point is the budget deficit. America is spending more than its earning, thus every year consumers are indirectly spending more then they are paying for. This is an unbalance in the economy that eventually will have to be reversed. So american consumption is made unnaturally high, by giving out loans to the public (throu budget deficit) the average american jsut isnt aware that they are living off borrowed money. So to sum up, at the moment americans are reciving more money from the governemnt than they are paying in taxes, and at some point in the future they will have to repay that debt.

Zarf stop derailing it, thats a completely other story.

The republicans are not responsible for the current economy crisis, neither are the democrats.

But the republicas ARE responsible for bidget deficit and foreign debt

The last claims there are sorta false Yell

democrats doesnt want higher taxes, they are just a way to finance spending on say universal healthcare. Lately republicans have been spending as much as democrats have, just its gone to warfunding rather than education and healthcare. The reason why the depublicans arent making taxes higher is because they arent financing the spending at all, they are taking up enormous loans from foreign investors, debt that future generations will have to pay back.

The budget was balanced with Clinton, its out of control with Bush. That trackrecord cant be forgotten, and it does show that democrats do lead a responsible budget policy.

When it comes to the power of government you should also take a step back and look at the new power that has been given to government during the last 8 years, its bush that has been expanding the power of government.

In europe, most countries have the choices between right and left, in teh aspect that rightwing support more economic freedom, less taxes and less handout, less universal healthcare and education. The left support more government intervention, bigger focus on the society as a whole, and more focused on supporting thoose worse off in society. In general ppl would see rightwing as best for the economy, but leftwing as thoose who will make life better for a broader part of society.

However, when applying this sort of thinking on United States, i find myself a little baffled.
When it comes to gvernment intervention and handouts its much the same, universal healthcare education and so on. But the paradox is teh economy. In unstable times economywise, ppl tend to lean to the democrats. I dunno why, but they might be seen as more responsible etc. The current republican administration has run the economy into the ground and the foreign debt is bigger than ever. Why is this?

And one more thing im forced to ask then is, what does the republicans then have to offer, if neither social equality or financial stability is theirs. And im left with a few core values such as minimal government, militaristic and religion. But i have to ask, if a democrat administration is what takes care of both the social welfare, and the budget, then im surprised the election can be this close.

In Europe parties with the same agenda as the republican usually have about 5-25% of the votes, while a party with an agenda such as the Democrats have typically 50-70%

What will come from th' huge budget deficit an' foreign fundin' policy bein' run by th' current administration.

At some point th' average american is gonna have t' reduce his or hers consumption, or pay more taxes in order t' pay back th' huge deficit that has been buildin' up.

Any economic pointers t' this?

BW th' reason i dont bother is that this is just an attempt from Flint t' once again spam th' forums with somethin' o' little relative importance..

The housin' crisis can in no way be blamed on Obama..  Load the cannons, to be sure!  everyone knows that..

And thar be instances that be way more suspect, fer instance Dick Cheneys involvment in Haliburton an' th' war on Irak.

Flint, how many trillion pieces of eight did Geroge Bush increase spendin with o'er his 8 year in office..  way more than obama will..

this is again just sput an' spam from th' most mentally challenfe forumposter on th' web

Thoose religious nutcases really amuse me.

I waonder what would happen if you could apply that sort of religious logic in other aspects of society:

Picture yourself a trial against a murderer:

Judge: Do you pledge guilty or innocent

Accused: Innocent your Honor

Judge: Are you sure? We have 10 eyewitnesses, a videorecording, your prints on the gun, and it all ties you to the murder

Accused: Well, you see your Honor, the Lord allmighty killed the man.

Judge: All the witnesses are saying they saw you shoot the victim in cold blood.

Accused: Well your honor, you gotta understand, that is just how the Lord made it look, he works in mysterious ways.

In a court of law, this person would be deemed as a liar or a nutcase, why is it that we allow this sort of reasoning in this debate?

Red_rooster you are wrong again (as usual) cause its not something darwin pulled out of his ass.

The joining of molecules has nothing to do with evolution and does not belong in this thread, so stop bringing it up.
Darwing presented a theory or a hypothesis, wich has been supported by more research done later. He didnt make it up in his imagination like the authors of the ancient scriptures, he observed species at the galapagos islands, and investigated etc, he searched for knowledge!

My country (thus its inhabitants including me) earn money from high oil price in two ways

1. By owning the majority of the shares in the companies operating the fields

2. By having a 78% tax on the operating companies north sea activities

so as you can see, very much of the revenue is brought back to norway, and thus its ppl

"@ Noir
At least that is understandable......except for the point of Elasticity.
Oil is basically inelastic.  Not to say there is NO impact on Demand as price changes, but there is very little."

BW im sure you knopw this so im not gonna hold it over your head tongue

As you read from my post, elsticity is such that Oilproducers earn more with a higher price, and like you state, that is because demand for oil i pretty INELASTIC. So we agree wink, consumption is reduced, but by less % than the prices (elasticity below 1) Thus the producers get a bigger revenue. And that is why I as a non car owning student, from a country that has oil as its biggest export is very happy about high oilprices. It gives Norway bigger income, and also reduces worldwide pollution.

And as im sure you understand, Russia and Opec working together can only drive oilprice upwards wink

Note: Nice to finally discuss something with someone slighlty intellegent tongue
