Key,
I'm not saying that generosity is currently a concept practiced by the majority of businesses. I'm saying that perhaps one reason for the poor economic performance of business IS their lack of generosity for their employees and customers.

Why are rich people rich AND why are poor people poor? by xeno syndicated
you're playing spoonbean with threads, aintcha
they're too disorganized to play a game with their threads... the moderators are just dumb [] that have no idea how to run a forum.
Hush.
1: Undeath had a legitimate reason to close the threads as he did at the time. From the outside, it looks quite simply like "why are rich people rich AND why are poor people poor" would be the best one to keep open, as it groups together both the first and second threads.
2: I requested the switch be made, and the other threads be opened, for a couple reasons
A: These two threads were there first
B: The first thread already had over 100 posts, and had advanced considerably in discussion
C: Both the rich and poor threads, although similar, took different avenues in the way they approached the question, with one being more philosophical while the other was more pragmatic...
Many of these reasons could only be discovered by people who are actually participating in the threads stepping forward and correcting them. That's why they have the system: the moderators have plenty of stuff to do, and cleaning up politics forums is not on their highest priority, especially when it means reading 3 threads to figure out how to best fix the issue. ![]()
it doesnt matter the type of arguments used in the two threads diverging. the topic is the same and there should only be 1 thread for it. or else we could have hundreds of threads on the same subject with people spouting different arguments in each one.
They're pointing out that a common-sense approach to organization doesn't work when the threads are filled with the ignorant thoughts of uneducated children. ![]()
lol
This thread is about why rich people are rich. This could involve discussing how rich people could get rich, profitable ways to run a business, the political climate that facilitates wealth growth, the definition of 'rich', and any number of other issues pertaining to WHY ARE RICH PEOPLE RICH? One of the other threads is about why are poor people poor. In that thread people can discuss the causes of poverty (any from global climate change to greed, laziness, etc.) The thread entitled "Why are rich people rich and poor people poor?" Should be reopened in my opinion, as it is a place where people can discuss more comprehensively the dynamic interplay between the rich and poor.
I am resonably sure only the first thread should be open, the other topics can be discussed there too....
@xeno and You_Fool
Yes, theoretically, you could discuss the other topics here. However:
1: As was noted, "poor people poor" already had over 100 posts, indicating it was deep in a discussion. Two implications:
A: That discussion would have to be started from scratch in order to reclaim where the discussion formerly was...
B: It would interfere in the other discussion...
2: Refer to 2C from above.
In short, note the topic: explaining inequality. To really analyze the issue would require more than a post. It would need a Master's thesis. Limiting such a broad topic to one thread is, in essence, the same thing as having multiple topics in one thread, degrading the depth in which we can analyze each individual issue.
Like I said. More Sesame Street, less Wall Street.
