Re: Rules

Well, I'm not condoning the usage of profanity, but do you honestly believe that the moderators are going to read every single story post looking for particular swear words?  I mean, in the past we've utilized swear words not to challenge the general Board Rules, but to give life to individual characters.  Obviously, a character that swears all the time is a clear violation of the rules, however, a character that lets out their anger at a single point in the storyline, utilizing a single swear word to amplify the desired emotion, would be, in my opinion, allowed to slip.  After all, it isn't like anyone who is on these forums haven't heard worse.

Re: Rules

SupAll, you'd be surprised at the level of persistence with which our moderators operate. I absolutely agree that occasional use of swear words in the context of the Roleplay forum constitutes a valuable literary tool, but from my observation, our overlords clearly think differently. Like Arocalex has alluded to, exemplary writing has had its heart and soul altered before by moderator intervention on this very issue.

Unfortunately, given the current state of the Roleplay forum, it seems Board Rules have the final say here, as I don't find it likely that enough momentum can be gathered for an appeal. I'd love to be proven wrong, of course...

Re: Rules

of course they rarely reread past paragraphs so you could just re-edit them. And none would be the wiser

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...
