Topic: Gitmo Detainees and "Pre-Crime"

This is a deplorable change in prisoner policy.

Watch this first, stress first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jshogbjtYs

For years the policy, indeed most of the worlds policy on prisoners of war is simple. They are not afforded the rights of the nation, but are afforded world treaty rights.

In the world there is no rights afforded terrorists. None beyond an agreement to Red Cross to provide names, and access.

Bush policy has been to treat them as prisoners 'mostly'.

They were put in gitmo cause a ruling by FDR's court requiring prisoners in the United States to get full Constitutional Treatment.

This is of course impossible in a true war. Prisoners were kept in other nations and this was not an issue before

Gitmo is the way way around this 'ruling' with a divided court that would fight Bush just cause he is Bush, just like you fight me cause I am Einstein/Flint.

Now Obama changes his standing in the same speech endlessly, as this editorial shows in great length. He is not sane in the brain to be saying these things, and putting these guys through this.

Pre-crime is what it amounts to, it is correct. Detaining them not for what they did, but what they will do. This is wrong. In war we take prisoners and they may never have fought, may never have held a rifle, may not have even known war was coming, but they are prisoners regardless.

Obama is shifting this to something else altogether to pander [no trolling] his voters. And it makes no sense. They are already detained lawfully and this stands in all jurisdictions except Liberal Courts.

This scary revision would allow Obama to seize anyone on the basis they will commit a crime, but he cannot prove it. Fascism is here if this passes. Only Republicans and Conservatives will be the Jews.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Wow, MSNBC is extremely liberal. I'm surprised Maddow wasn't worshiping the idea of prolonged detention.

Re: Gitmo Detainees and "Pre-Crime"

The laws are very clear for a reason.

If you arrest someone claiming they will eventually commit a crime, but you have no evidence of it, nor do you have any idea of the crime, then this would be fascism or tyranny.

If you found anything pointing at them as terrorists, such as training with Al Quieda, then you can arrest them under a number of protocols for that, so long as they are not citizens of your nation (unless laws of that nation allow it). It has been this way for a long time.

There is a reason you fight in uniform and only against military targets (collateral damage not with standing). Geneva Conventions is why.

Re: Gitmo Detainees and "Pre-Crime"

If information was obtained about the 9/11 hijackers they could have been lawfully detained without this power. If this law was in place it would not have detained those who committed 9/11.

See, here's the problem, though: You're assuming there won't be corruption.

If a law says "This person has X power," it should be assumed that X power will eventually be used during the calculation of whether the law is just or not.  In short, legislators don't just write laws by throwing words against a dartboard.  They carefully pick the wording, which means there is meaning behind the wording.

I did answer the question via saying that this would be fascism and/or tyranny. I should hope you would not want that Zidi.

If I were president and I made this into a law, I could see every IC player in the world going "oh shit!!!"

It's worse than nearly anything Hitler did except the death camps, the murder, and such. Is that clear enough?
