Topic: Honor our Veterans
I have seen a nasty trend in Democrats acting as 'moderates', RINO's and in other factions of liberalism.
This comes as a complaint that our soldiers and veterans ask for to much, that we are unwilling to cut back for them (and myself since I am a veteran) and that how dare any cuts happen unless it involves veterans as well.
There are 5 occupations where you put your life on the line; Soldier, Firefighter, Police Officer, Spy/intelligence personnel, and Security Officers. Of this two are Federal Responsibilities, two are city, county, and State responsibilities, and the last is one for a variety of sources including companies.
The Firemen and Police have expectations that they may come into harms way at any given time, but that this is mitigated and the odds are reduced greatly that they shall be hurt or die. Still if they are they are guaranteed (commonly) medical costs are paid, a life insurance payout, and the likes.
Ommitting the other two, soldiers are told they will do what they are told to do. They will be sent at a moments notice directly into harms way. Additionally every soldier recognizes the ability of politicians, news media, and of lawyers to increase the risk of danger to them. Where a police officer fears bullets, knives and needles, and a fireman fears exploding gas and fire in general, a soldier must fear all that and more. Bombs, attack dogs, artillery, grenades, etc.
In exchange for their duties we have offered for a hellava long time benefits ranging from schooling, to house buying assistance, to retirement benefits, and especially medical benefits if they are injured. Retirees get somewhat more with benefits for immediate family as well, shopping privileges, and the likes.
In our coming days I predict that when we start talking of cuts, the liberals in sheeps clothing shall be demanding, as they see they are going to lose, that veterans benefits be cut as well.
Indeed they have been cut many times, starting with Clinton, when I got out he cut a program that would have retrained me (I was in the infantry) and made other substantial cuts. George W. Bush did cuts, but not that hurt us. Obama however is doing hurtful cuts, but slowly, since he got bit hard for his effort to cripple us in one go.
Now before I move on let me talk of Bush's cuts. The VA medical system is tops, the Army hospital system is the one in life support. Go into a VA hospital and you will find 100% electronic medical records, state of the art equipment, and more. All without a budget increase either.
How could they do this you ask? Well the issue is the soldiers of WWI, then WWII all started dying. In fact Korean war veterans are soon to start passing in ever increasing numbers as well. This has greatly lightened the load for the VA hospital system and has allowed them to update to tremendous levels. While they still have flaws of rejecting some veterans for help, and customer service issues, their infrastructure is very top quality.
Bush looked at this and said "you have money but you spend it now wastefully, you are able to add but only at huge costs for little return. This money can work elsewhere". I am paraphrasing of course. These cuts did not harm veterans at all, and was in line with Conservative values. I agree with this move.
Now in an era of declining net costs we can look through history and say "we have afforded without hardship this duty, why should we suddenly think it is a hardship?"
The answer is of course that Democrats want to hurt those they despise, and gain for it.
I am barely worthy of the title veteran, there are those, like my old history teacher (A member of the Chosun Few) who I would lie down on the ground so as to let them walk on me and not get their feet muddy. Imagine this man was there when the Korean war started, at the front lines, was forced back and fought the whole way to the end of the penisula, sometimes wondering how many days it would be til his next meal, hoping to find a few more bullets, he fought that way til MacArthur stormed the beaches, then he fought again, this time at the spearhead of the southern forces, he slogged his way all the way up to the Chinese Border.
Then the Chinese attacked, a human wave. His quiet talk of it was that there were so many Chinese the machine guns ran out of ammunition, combat was often hand to hand as we had run out of ammunition, and they mostly were not armed properly. Those very quiet words tell a story of horrors and of heroism beyond any measure I have accomplished! He saw an ambulance show up during the fighting... it had spread elsewhere, and start loading the wounded. A Chinese patrol would come and kill them all, the medic hiding in the mud. He would start again, and they would return. Finally he gave up, loaded all the dead he could and drove off.
My teacher then fought his way through to our lines, and fought southwards to the area now called the DMZ. He got sniper duty for a while, and fought along the moving line til peace was signed.
This is one story in millions. How can we treat our veterans, especially our combat veterans with anything beyond awe? Yet they are despised, spit upon, even beaten for their views.
Prejudice against our soldiers exists as high as modern day racism against blacks, yet our Democrats seek to not just leave them out of protections, but to instead kick them while they are down with these planned actions against them, nay against us.
So I say, when you hear someone say "Veterans must also take cuts" consider them a RINO or a Democrat, perhaps a liberal wearing another title, but they are of that despicable unthinking, uncaring, greedy bunch.
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)
