Computers, internet, iron, steel, bronze working. ^.^

The printing press was invented in China. While I don't know much about it's specific origins I do know that in many cases new inventions were only allowed if it benefited the Emperor. China was always funny like that.

Re: Resource-based economy

"patented technology that converts electricity from the Earth's magnetic field?"

Just noticed that. The reason those lanterns work is cause of the high tension transmission cables above them. The electromagnetic field produced by those wires is many times stronger than the field emitted on earth. There are only a handful of places on the planet that can use that technology and that's mostly around the poles. The earths field may not be as powerful but it's massive in physical size. I've heard about crack pots ever now and then claiming to have developed a new generator that draws energy from the earths magnetic field. They talk about them a lot on Coast to Coast with George Noory.....along with UFO's, government conspiracies, and "proof" that Elvis is alive. -.-;

Don't dismiss everything they say on that show.  I once listened to an episode where they were talking about the financial crisis.  Now the host was trying to analyze it from a real-world perspective... "oh, shit, this could be a huge economic collapse!"  Anyway, his callers, one after another, suggest things such as, "The financial crisis was orchestrated to herald the coming of the Antichrist" and whatever other conspiracy theories you could come up with.  The host, one by one, rebuked them, and actually had a real-world, no-bullshit discussion.

(I thought it was funny that the conspiracy theory host was suddenly caught knee-deep in conspiracy theory callers when he wanted to avoid conspiracy theories...)

Their screener would not let me on, I tried to talk about OGLU's as if I was xeno, and they said "your to weird and messed up in the head, please do not call here again"

I love the show actually. ^.^ It's never boring that's for sure.

note: Flint the show doesn't have screeners. It's just George Noory answering every call that comes in. tongue

Re: Resource-based economy

I love when the people on that show decide to make fun of some people for being too crazy even for them...

I remember one show, the radio host picks up the phone... Conversation goes like this:

Hello, caller!  What's on your mind?
OH, GOD!  I'VE BEEN POISONED!  I USED TO WORK IN THAT AREA 51 PLACE, AND NOW I'VE BEEN POISONED
Well, can you give me more information?
I DON'T WANT TO DIE!  I'VE BEEN POISONED!
I can't help you unless you give me more information... can you tell me anything?
I'VE BEEN POISONED!
Caller?  Hmm... the line dropped... Okay, next caller...

They made fun of him all day.  tongue

You should listen to the show when the crazy man calls who thinks George is Saten. ^.^ He's a regular caller too and George lets him on every time. Classy and amusing.

Re: Resource-based economy

"you have to show that to us."

Where are all these ideas of 'have to' or must, or can't coming from?

I don't have to show you anything.  I'm not writing a dissertation.

I don't have to do anything any particular way or show anything to anybody.

"Your responses are a reflection of your opinions and level of accumulated knowledge."

Is it an accurate reflection?

"Now I expect a proper response addressing the issues I brought up in that post."

Lol

Here it is, then:

"Yes your idea is a waste of time" - nice proper response.

This discussion is a waste of time - not the idea

Civilization as it is developing (backwards, into less liberty and more oppression) is a waste of time.

"These regions are becoming highly urbanized and connected to the grid. Which makes the concept of OGLU's more and more of a pipe dream."

Exactly, which is why my idea is not a waste of time.  It is current.  Has to be discussed now, before it's too late; before individual freedom, liberty, and the notion of PROGRESS are completely undermined by the blind, self-serving development of the authoritarian Global Police State.

Then you shouldn't have started the topic to begin with if you had no real intention to discuss it.

"Is it an accurate reflection?"

Don't know, that is something only you would know. We aren't physic you know.

Re: Resource-based economy

"Then you shouldn't have started the topic to begin with if you had no real intention to discuss it."

I'm discussing it just the way I WANT to, not they way you say I have to.

"So you concede the debate then."

Lol.  You don't get it, do you?  This is not a Cambridge university lecture hall.  This is IC Political Forum!  There are no propper ways of debating anything here, which is why I am here.  I happen to like the notion of not being restrained by established conventions of intellectual discussion.

"I think given by your concession it is obvious that the idea is a waste."

You assume I conceded something.  Why?  You insult me, tell me I have to discuss this that and the other in this that or the other way, and you expect me to WANT to discuss anything with you?

Thought you were cool, Lizon, but I guess I was wrong.

"So now your afraid of big brother?"

You're not?  How very foolish of you.

"false sense of urgency to convince people that your way is the only way."

At the moment, all I am seeking is the an alternative to the established way WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY NOW, and failing!

"That is the path chosen by those who are obsessed with power, and such claims are usually a clear indication of desperation."

Wow.  So you're a physicist and a psychologist now, are you?  You're a regular savant, now, aren't you?

Which one of us is the one more obsessed with power, I wonder, hmmm - the one who tells the person with whom he is debating how exactly he should debate and what exactly he topics should discuss; the one complaining the other isn't arguing conventionally enough (this is all you, by the way), or the one who is arguing for more power for the individual to take care of themselves THEIR OWN WAY, so they need not be dependent on the grid (and other infrastructure of the authoritarian state) for their survival?

I'll answer that:  YOU are.
