Topic: Life sucks

There are people with more than I have. Look at Bill Gates. He lives in a technological marvel of a mansion with all the pleasures he wants, while I live in this piece of crap apartment. What's worse is that there are people who live worse off than me. Some even live without sanitary conditions or adequate food, and boy I feel happy that I live somewhere in the middle of that continuum. But who can seriously say this depth of inequality is morally right? Bill Gates does not need to live like that, and he should get out of his pleasure house and donate most of his money to benefit the rest of us. He needs some compassion!

But the rich are evil. They horde all the money they don't need by exploiting us and we all live like beggars. The only way to solve this problem, I see, is for there to be more democracy and a bigger government. Everyone knows a bigger democratic government is for the people, and then with this solution we could redistribute wealth more fairly and life would be better and more compassionate for everyone. We don't need to take all of the money belonging to the rich, but we can even it out some and give people a better education.

The whore took your wallet before she left, again?

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: Life sucks

Yeah man. Some women are greedy these days too, but there are good ones out there.

Re: Life sucks

Balsz, nice translation.

"The true office of a friend is to side with you when you are wrong; the world will side with you when you are right."
"It is not just a friend's help that helps us, but the knowledge that they will unconditionally do so."

Re: Life sucks

Morals do not exist! It's all a lie

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: Life sucks

Nice attempt at a double entendre...

Re: Life sucks

yes life must be awesome in cuba!

I think liberals are all about feeling good about themselves. They feel good that they take money from the rich forcefully and give it to the poor. They feel good that they are like the "robin hood" characters of our time. They feel good because they think this money they are giving to the poor is actually helping them and helping us in the long run. But liberals give up all amounts of common sense that we have in us, just so they can feel good about themselves. I am sure most people that are liberals choose their political affiliation because they would feel guilty if they were not liberals.

This is just my way of trying to find some explanation to this strange behavious we call 'liberalism'

oh also, justinian you need to try better to mock liberals. I like your ideals but this thread kinda fails.

Re: Life sucks

everything ok jus?

Re: Life sucks

I've got nothing against rich people I just don't understand the behaviour.  Wasteful spending for the sake of wasteful spending, and when you get down to it that's all big houses and fancy cars are, just doesn't make sense to me; on the other hand hoarding money for the sake of hoarding money doesn't make much sense either.  Maybe that's just me I'm content with survival and a few simple leisures which I can easily support working part time while going through school.

I've got an idea for changing wealth redistribution to make it fair to the rich as well as gratifying to the poor.  If you're rich you won't have your money taken away UNLESS you commit a major crime.  An example that comes to mind is one time I heard that DMX had been arrested for stealing cars.  So if you're rich and you commit a major crime; grand theft, murder, assault, any white collar crime, etc. you lose EVERYTHING.  All of your assets are taken, possessions are sold and the value taken, and put into the federal budget.  Now the problem is defining where "rich" begins as people have different perceptions.  To a guy making 25k a year someone making 100k might be considered rich.  I propose that "rich" be defined as anyone who's gross income is more than $750k a year.  This way the smart and law abiding rich have nothing to worry about and the poor get to occasionally see one of those bastards pulled down off their pedestal; and all to the benefit of the federal government and ideally the nation.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Re: Life sucks

its basic instinct.(not the movie, put it back in your pens)

Think of it in pre-historic terms and translate back to modern times...
When you have "on excess" or when you have enough recources on excess you can waste some, you show you are a very efficient individual. Second you can show you're status in a groop wich again shows your capabilities. These people originally (and still) have more chance on survival of their blood.

In modern times its completely wasted except for the part where you work in order to try to reach it, wich is not always 100% effective but still the driving force behind our HR in our economy.
