Think about that the next time you want to buy something with a credit card or you want to buy a new car. If you don't get the loan, you won't buy and in the end the company will go out of business. I personally am not in favor of the stimulus bill but atleast it will go to some good use unlike wars that cost us trillions with no benefits. And give him some time to cut spending... We are faced with a huge recession and you want him to work miracles. He talks of things where he is able to cut spending but i agree with you those things are vague. Give him atleast a year before you get full details. <<

The girl with the leaky roof, she should have written to her school board who controls the budget of her school, and who should care the most about local education.(not that she would know this) The national govt. is not the only govt. it is a system where power is divided. people seem to have forgotten this and look to the president to solve every problem that comes up. People should work more with local govt. and their congressmen (who have the real power to make things happen in this country) not look to the president to snap his unconstitutional fingers and make the world just perfect.

I think Obama's policies are ridiculous, but the people who make the laws, sign the checks, and run the country are the people in Congress who are majority Democrats right now. They are the ones who could turn things around and are in the process of bending us over. Obama isn't helping but he isn't the real problem.

Lending never froze. Stop listening to the rhetoric. Are you in the business world? The system was strained, but it was still functioning. All of this "we must take BOLD action now!" rhetoric is useless. We need the right action, not actions that will only strain the system more while adding tremendous amounts to our debt.

If I didn't get my last car loan, I would have made a little less money on an investment (I was making more on interest in my investment than the loan's interest would cost me, so I took the loan and payed it off in a few months). I would still have the car. What if everyone spent less on credit? We wouldn't have this "crisis" we're talking about now! How horrible would that be? It'd be nice not to have to pay for idiots.

I've never consulted anyone 1500 miles away concerning roof repairs. Have you? Just seems a little ridiculous to me. Maybe she should have written a letter to her local, county, or state legislature? They're surely much more aware of the economic suicide her area must have committed, or the corruption that results in not even having a functioning roof. In any case, it seems a little ridiculous to need Washington's support to fix a roof. If that's the best example a president has, he hasn't got any good examples.

Obama is going to half the annual deficit after 4 years. The first 3 years he will spend increasing the annual deficit [he's gotten a great start REAL fast!] so drastically that cutting it in half after 4 years seems like a cut. I don't want to talk about the politics of this not being fiscally responsible in this thread. I want to talk about how he's misleading idiots by saying he's going to cut the deficit in half... AFTER HE INCREASES IT YEARLY FOR 3 YEARS. He doesn't say that second part which is necessary to make the statement coherent. He is lying to you.

We've pointed out lies he has made. They make him a liar. Nobody cares what plan "it seems" he has to you. He's not into transparency. Details aren't going to come. back to my last post. ever looked over the borders of the US? the governments of the world mobilized up to 8 trillion $ in a few months. they started massive investment programs in their national industries. the US-gov has to react, if the US-economy shall ever recover. not all measures of those the US-politicans have negotiated seem to be of need in the first place, but for the compromise it was necessary to write it in. if Obama would have failed bringing that bill through the houses you would blame him as a loser and lame duck now.

most of all this trillion $ program shows that the US, as "leader" of the western world, is doing their homework to change the course of the world economy again. it is a demonstration of strength and a claim to lead in the crisis. europe seems to be divided in economics, but our governments work fast on new rules for the european financial markets (we germans love regulations), which can fast be standarts in other parts in the world or even the whole globe. the US just catched up in that race of new standarts, throwing nearly 1 trillion $ in the arena.

conclusion:
Obama is doing the job most americans voted him in. that is not lying, just working. disrespect is right, obviously a minority feels disrespected at the moment. this minority may grow into a majority if Obama fails, but if not you are just grumblers
