This is becoming to narrowly focused on just Schools, so I started a new thread.
Teaching unions are redundant and stupid.
You had nazi bush in for 8 years and you couldn't even achieve anything. For shame.

Called college.
"private schools give their teachers much less money"
I'd really like to know where you get your statistics from ![]()
yes, and im talking about improving those "colleges" that teach teachers how to teach, since they are obviously not doing what they are paid for...
and if that all about the unions is the case, maybe you should throw some money into something that makes it work. Your arguemnts against are single minded. You want to believe that nothing can change..and if you continue with that train of thought, nothing might happen. Jezze guys, think outside the box. If its imposible to make the Education system better, you wouldnt be halfway down the list for highschool education...japan does some really good things with thier education stuff...so how come you guys over in america cant figure something out? sigh....this kinda pestimism will only lead to dead brain cells and inbreeding.
It cannot be done until the Union, which Japan does not have, is destroyed.
In Europe the successful school systems allow parents the choice to choose what school their students will goto, Teachers there must fight to keep their jobs via performing better. Here in the USA this is considered against the law by Democrat Judges.

at the earnings section, " Although private school teachers generally earn less than public school teachers, they may be given other benefits, such as free or subsidized housing."
private schools almost always outperform public schools. yet, this unbiased site says private school teachers are generally paid less. paying teachers more in public schools will not fix it.
America needs to import teachers from countries where they can speak decent English, like China.
And Teachers from countries where they know the power of math, like Nigeria.
They also need teachers from countries where they have a compassion for your fellow man, Isreal and Palistine.
Ya... Me being from another india and knowing exactly what is good education i can tell you that it is not in the power of the teachers.
It is squarely dependant on the parents. If the parents dont care or are not respected by the student, then the grades fall. My parents pushed me to always make 95% on my report card. That's why I tried to actually pay attention in class.
Also i think your statistics for private schools performing better is very misleading. Have you considered maybe that when parents pay for their kids education they mean business? Maybe that is why the kids are performing better because they know that their ass is going to hurt a whole lot of they dont do good on the standardized tests. Also privatizing all schools WILL NOT solve the problem because you are still handing out money to parents as vouchers. Im telling you it is all in the culture and the determination of the parents.
Our low standards are also to blame because the way i feel, if some kids don't understand, let them fall behind. lets stop always blaming the teachers because thats just stupid. the kids who want to learn will learn wether it's calculus or algebra. Lets not make the first generation of kids who are less educated than their parents.

as i have stated in a thread about Barak Obama's intelligence, good grades represents the motivation of the student. i agree that the parents can motivate their children alot of the time; also teachers can motivate children.
Well I guess some of you took my words differently, I believe teachers should be paid fairly high but not through a straight pension, but possibly through bonuses for maybe starting a club after school or extra-help. Teachers being recognized for their efforts not solely based upon grades though because I know many teachers who have just given people 90's without though.
