thats unlikely. its possible they are spending more than they have disclosed but more than US is highly doubtful.

I agree, there's no question of us honoring our NATO pledges by drafting 5% of the US population and putting 50% of our economy into wartime production.  The "smart set" is saying we won't fight at all, if Russia is the agressor against Poland.

It could be Papua New Guinea Vs. Indonesia for all we know.

I disagree. It WILL be a huge number of nations at war. You will need to pick a side (there may well be more then two), otherwise you (Well, most of the world) will get trampled on.

Whoever wins will name the war. For now, WW3 is a good 'codename' if you will.

It will be decades of fighting.

Its my personal opinion, but i don't honestly think the world can wipe  itself out just yet. Pakistan/India have what, 200 nukes between them? Even that figure is outrageously high. They will shoot each other (India might try and nuke China, but thats about it).

Then we have The US, Russia, China, France and UK left right? Basically the northern hemisphere.

China helps wipe out India, U.S, Taiwan, Japan.
Russia helps wipe out US, Europe
France...Well, its the french :S. But anyway, they would help wipe out Russia.
UK would help wipe out Russia, China
US would help wipe out Russia, China, Pakistan, France (Why not? )

By now most of these countries have been ravaged. They would take considerable civilians casualties. But they wouldn't be wiped out.

Next comes non-nuclear missiles, bombers, etc. More attacks from subs.

Then what? Well, whoever is left out of these and their direct allies would start shooting each other. I'm sure Germany wouldn't sit back and idle whilst Europe and Russia went to war.

Then who is left? Scattered countries all over the Asia, most of Africa, Australia/NZ/PNG/etc.

Australia is a breadbasket for resources and would be relatively untouched by nukes. Especially the NT which is full of Uranium...eventually survivors will come to collect.

So yeah...that would leave the largest invasion force - the AU (African Union). And with no incoming aid, a substantial amount of Africans would starve. The rest would protest/riot.

That leaves some Asian countries, and AU/NZ/etc.

Obviously then AU/NZ will have no choice to unify .

i think the conditions afters tens of thousands of nuclear bombs are launched, it would create climate conditions enough to thwart any attempt at conventional warfare, especially by the countries involved.

Tens of thousands? :S. Try no more then 15,000.

The number of nuclear weapons is on a steady decline, by the time there is a nuclear war that number could well have dropped below 10,000. Maybe even 5,000 - who knows.

And i highly doubt Iran is going to go into mass-nuclear weapon production. Most other countries that could build nukes, refuse to.
