very embarassing, turns out the guy in my squash class who is also a postgrad and who i knew also played badminton and who is also called James A, is in fact not Lat...

I didn't know of another James A in the badminton club.  Oh well. tongue 

And I don't go to the squash lessons out of principle!  We started a surface physics squash ladder, principaly to enjoy ourselves and for a bit of fun.  A way to unwind and relax after a hard day's/week's slog.  But then people started to take it seriously and take lessons.  Fortunately, I can still beat most of them and the best games I have are with a guy who's improving at a similar pace to me without needing lessons. 

By the way, which halls are you in?  Read: will you be attending the Christmas break club sessions? 

Oh, and congrats on coming second with Sang.  I checked the badminton page earlier on today and saw you came second - congrats!

Lat - I'm mostly taking the squash lessons because I needed to complete the physical recreation section of my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, though it is a fun game.

As for halls, I was in AV last year but live in Leam at the moment. And no I won't be at the Christmas sessions I'm afraid because I'll be back in Guildford tongue

I'll probably try to turn up to the second half of the Friday session, otherwise I won't be playing any badminton until the weekend after when my brother's term finishes. If you aren't about, then I'm sure I'll bump into you at one of the sessions next term wink

I shall be around during the Christmas break, probably until the 18th of December (physics staff Christmas dinner which I may go to, but after that, no one ever bothers with research until the new year tongue).  Largely researching, but getting plenty of badminton and squash in. tongue

we're both at Warwick, im a 2nd year classics student and Lat is a Physics PhD student, in the second year of his PhD i believe

Lat you are brave yikes. I'm up at Liverpool uni. Sometimes i wish i studied classics..or psychology. The guy to girl ratio in aero is like 20:1, and they're all godawful :-/.

Yeah, I'm a 2nd year PhD student in physics at Warwick.  Did my undergrad there too.  And I don't really consider myself brave... its a job and pays the bills. tongue  I feel privileged at the opportunity to be doing what I'm doing more than anything else.

Awww, missing Warwick Badminton?  Well, not to make you jealous or anything, but I'm playing squash tomorrow, squash Wednesday, squash Thursday which is then followed by 2 hours of badminton (with friends). tongue 

Speaking of badminton... did you just see Rob (McDonald) on University Challenge as the captain of the Warwick team?  tongue  If you didn't, well, you didn't really miss much. tongue
