No, in many ways 2004 was the high-water mark of the GOP. It ran with Congress and the President as a unit working for an agenda. They promised a slate of policies to fix social security win in Iraq and reform judicial appointments. Once they won, defections by guys like McCain went unpunished, they felt free to repudiate every pledge, and came up with insane ideas like amnesty eith back pension for illegal aliens.

Some belgians were giddy the govt was gonna give them money to buy a BICYCLE.  Democrats are talking about helping every American buy a CAR- a green car--and giving Detroit a few hundred billion to make them faster. And the Plan is, foriegners will loan us the money to do that, with bond purchases, in whatever amount, forever.

We don't sit quietly and let govt do our thinking for us. The last time we had anything close to unity was WW2 because the Axis hit us first and were such jerks. And even then there were rumbles at how FDR was running it.

A lot of these ideas haven't been tried since the 1970s because they're such flops.   They don't deserve a "trial period" to see how they work.

We might not stop any of it, especially if the Democrats restore the Fairness Doctrine and render radio free of politica content again. But part of changing it is opposing it, and that each of can do alone.

Word of caution on that...a lot of guys in the McCain camp are scumbags, apparently a few were Romney people who feel THEY are running the party now that McCain lost, thank you very much, odd how he lost with the E-lights helping him...
