Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

Uh huh. Of course we must tax our way out!

Rate of spending grew about twice as fast as our population growth...

Sacramento Democrats hold fast to the great lie of the Liberals--a decrease in the rate of growth is a "cut"---"you CUT education! Health care! Free condoms! Infrastructure!" It grew by 8% in a boom year, if it gets $105 billion instead of $108 billion this year it was CUT by $3 billion!!!!!! Blah

Hospitals are a must school football is a must so is adult education, new street lights, DSL all over the state, raises for state workers no cuts are possible everything must grow

Oh and the illegals are heading back to Mexico, state agencies like schools that got paid by the head have fewer heads

And the taxes we already have are bringing in less, fewer sales and houses arent worth as much

And finally esa, if Mr Jones moves to Idaho and pays not one centavo to Sacramento he still speaks english and has the Bill of Rights and earns dollars--and has less crime and cleaner air and less traffic. So Sacramento cant tax like the US govt-- people WILL vote with their feet--under Gray Davis just six years ago Population SHRANK in this state...

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

ok we need a new thread on stocks smile and when to get in

i think we can all agree we should get in

i still think, next week will be about the same, we won't see huge losses, but no real gains either
i'm guna get in a bit after the election,

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

yeah, a new thread on stocks.

Huh, GM is not doing well as a business but their cars were getting better in the last two years. I dunno, they might fail competely though.

Could someone explain to me what's up with this Chrysler deal? It sounds sketchy to me.

Oh, and the Euro title - getting a decision by all of the states is just too hard. Since they are separate countries, not one entity. It would either hurt directly one of the sides or have someone else pay the tab for another.  There was not that much time for the discussions. So, they went and everyone tried to save what they've got. Not the best option, but I could not see any better.

I am all-in on electrics.

Another Chrysler deal?  This is where I came in

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

Surely the time to buy shares is when the up trend starts? The reason prices are falling is because traders (i.e professionals who know a lot more than anyone here about the system) are selling. Personally I'm going to trust their judgement over that of anybody here. Shares will recover eventually but it is not clear whether that will be in a week, a month or a year and in that time it is more unclear still who is going to go under and who is going to be nationalised to avoid going under. At the moment the best investment is a fixed rate bond in a government backed bank because that is the only thing that is guarenteed not to fail. I might invest in some shares in six months to a year once things have calmed down.

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

The trend up has just started. When EU or said they would all garantee loans between banks. And all EU nations got a couple of guidlines they can use to give boosts to their own national banks.

We are in the green(as of yet)

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

I guess we agree......sort of.  The EU is a young alliance of OLD centuries old enemies.
100 years ago, Germany and France were building up for the big war.....60 years ago they were gearing up to do it all over again.
10 years ago, they form the EURO, and anchor a loose economic alliance.
The first sign of trouble, and a need to pull together, and they toss the EURO in the trash by all going their separate way.
As I stated before this was a critical time for the EURO as a currency, the European alliance to REALLY shine.....and they blew it.
All who mocked and laughed at Great Britain for not joining the system.........  THIS is why Great Britain didnt join the system.  They know."

I have trouble with the perspective that's been used here. I think the Great War is quite irrelevant. Europe has changed a lot after WWII, and continues to do so. There are more things that link us than there are things that seperate us. Although, I agree that the european answer is far from what it's should be.
Great Britain is another thing that should be looked at from a broader perspective. It did not refuse to join the EU because they thought it would be an economic disaster, but rather because they didn't find it necessary. Great Britain is not what we can call a dedicated member of the EU, and the reasons for that are quite diverse. It has it's commonwealth, and a sort of pride of it's former imperial glory. The UK has had quite an economic low time these last years too..

God: Behold ye angels, I have created the ass.. Throughout the ages to come men and women shall grab hold of these and shout my name...

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

i still dont see how we blew it..
the euro was doing great (well still is) when u see where it is coming from.
only because your $ is coming out of misery a lil now.. its no sign at all the euro is in trouble.

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

Seeing how the individual countries in the EU have indivudual laws regarding banking, and in each country different risks have been taken regarding banking, it seems fair to me that countries, or small groups of countries take their own measures regarding saving the banks. Why would we have to pay for (hypothetically) Spain having had reckless policies?

Individual countries, individual measures, but of course collaboration so that more or less the same course is taken. The European Union isn't one country like the USA, and it seems to me like the Americans here seem to think we are or should behave as such, and that we're not strong or whatever for not behaving as such.

By the way I pretty much agree with how it's being handled in the Netherlands. A quick, thorough response with broad support of not only the ruling parties, but also most other parties (I believe save for populist rightwing ones that are obviously going to try to win votes with a "they spent your money to bail out ill performing CEO's" story in the future).

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

no offence but one of the main reasons the dolla has more influence is because the euro was never intended to replace it.

it was just created to show unity and exist next to the dollar.

if it was created to overthrow the dollar europe would have done that when their economy was strong and america's was already in a crisis. when they could push their advantage.
so it's natural the dollar has a bigger influence on things. it's just a fact not some victory of the dollar or something.

also. what are you talking about with GB? GB never used the euro and they still use pounds till this day to exclaim their independance and stuff( it's a british trait I think.)

I do agree with you that the euro isn't doing that great. because of it's high rate it's hard for american's to invest in europe and certainly now with the crisis. it is now easy for europeans to invist in america though so some of those new milionairs you we're talking about might be in europe.

with current courses. for an american to invest 10k euro in europe he has to put down almost 15k dollars, for a european to invest 15k dollar in america he has to pay only 10k euro's so that's both good and bad.( well good if you have money, bad if you need investers)

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

by the way, European countries reached a deal about guaranteeing (uh whats the english word) savings for banks lending moeny to one another. This is a huge coordinated investment, think it does show some of that strength Europe is supposed to lack according to some ppl here smile

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

Euro gaines another % today again btw.. almost back to 1,40$

Re: The full faith of the EURO is exposed

Yeah US is doing that too

This guarantees that next time, banks can avoid even moderate risk to themselves by choosing to do nothing until governments are panicked into offering guarantees of all bank loans.

Wtg dumbasses. Spending money you'll create later by selling bonds IS NOT stability
