@Little Paul: "It wasn't ment ironic."
Oops sorry
_____
@Genesis: "Funny. You could replace Palin for Obama and Biden for McCain and you could just about say the exact same thing."
Obviously, that's part of the fun. Except that in the case of the debate, McCain is more subtle in understanding what he can and cannot do, way above simply winning the point. As The Yell said almost a year ago, the problem with McCain is
a) he could do perfectly well till the end
b) there's a tiny percentage that he loses it and gets in a disastrous "F" fit at some point. I don't see it happen though, he's probably being coached on his temper from day 1.
Plus, in America you don't smile down on a woman raising a kid with Down syndrome. That's almost in the constitution. Yes, it's cynical, but that kid will prove a missile shield against personal attacks + any questions about dedication.
On the contrary, smiling down on an enthusiastic young man is almost tradition there.
John Wayne and Yoda did it for years

@DPS: "I think this could, note I said could, seriously blow up in McCain's face."
Me too. That's why it is fantastic. Obama was forced to fill some gap in experience with a guy that he will never fully control, and whose knowledge is as big as his potential to blunder. McCain was forced (though he must be loving it) to freshen his ticket with somebody who may not react well under pressure, negates the main point of inexperience and may seduce/anger Clinton's women fans.
Two time-ticking bombs. What a great movie this all is.

In my opinion, you are still debating on facts that mainly interest people reading stuff, which is still needed I agree as some (few) of the undecided will check facts and convert in "early-adopters" for the undecided.
But the main point about her, to me, is that she is REAL.
If you stop people on the streets, people that don't know what they will vote and "have to" follow all the current election stuff without much interest, you'll see they have very basic ideas:
Democrats raise taxes, don't have a strong arm when it comes to tough decisions, etc. Obama? Ready to lead?
Republicans? They favour corporations, economic interests, grey suits that don't fight for me first, oil money, blabla bla. McCain? Really different from Bush?
She is a "hockey mom" with a sick kid... Pure genius. Way to go to shatter the image of a grey-suit business.
