Topic: Rollback

I hope mods realize that the rollback complete messed up the round.  Now, i know where my enemies are going to attack me and vice versa, i know that the market is going to go on strike, i know where people are going to explore.  i know how many lasers on the planets am gonna before without pi.

and now, it looks like my enemy wont fall into my laser trap...

Re: Rollback

Come on, not another post. So what, those attacks happened before and you've lost those planets or you gained the knowledge not to take/lose that planet. The next wave are just as invisable as before the crash. Don't be a crybaby because you've got less fleet/less planets or less income, everyone lost a part of the game.

Re: Rollback

Well.. there were ppl still in the game, they were attacking and playing the market while others could not log in.. everyone is in this position.. portals were finished and no one was able to remove them before this happened, fleet disbanded, ppl starving in the streets.. there was more pros than cons on the roll back.. sorry this happened but it needed to be.

Right, so what are we waiting for?  Can we get this going?  Any other feedback?

Re: Rollback

I'm just going to post a couple of things on this issue...

So Stefan's choices were:

1. Do not rollback
Whilst this option sounds rosy as no one would have lost anything. That is wrong. In the 18 hours the game was down for we had groups of people who could log in successfully and groups of people who couldn't. Those that could log in were pretty much in an uncompetitive galaxy, they had the market to themselves and could attack/op without the possible prospect of retaliation. A lot can happen in 18 hours when you have such a huge competitive advantage.

2. Rollback
An ideal option would be to rollback to just before the problems occurred, however the backup simply didn't exist with the latest being Thursday morning.

So the decision was made to rollback. Yes, people would lose the work they put in and yes, people would have more knowledge about the plans of others. But the difference is that everyone is affected by being rolled back to the same time. Whilst your enemies may have knowledge about you, you have knowledge about your enemies. It will also force families to get together and rethink their tactics, which is essential in any sort of war or conflict situation. In other words, you have to be prepared for the unexpected and even though some of you are unhappy about the situation... think of it as an unexpected twist to work around.

Either way, just like in real life, whichever decision was made people would be opposed to it and complain. It's been like that for just about everything that has happened in IC. But as administrators of this game, in difficult situations like these, we have to make informed decisions to make things fair for all and I believe that is what was done.

Re: Rollback

Also, galactic events are random... therefore even though there was a market strike before, that doesn't always mean there will be one now.

Re: Rollback

everybody is in the same sit as you we all had fleets out etc so yeah everybody has pro's and cons on the rollback so i think in the end it is quite balanced and no one rly gets an advantage or set back

just because I slept with you doesn't mean I will snowboard with you

Re: Rollback

We lose the day. It's nonsense to add another day. Rollback things happened before, nothing to do about.

Re: Rollback

Yep, EOR dates stay the same. Check the EOR sticky for the latest dates.
