> They are trying to overthrow a democratically elected president, lol.
Wasnt Saddam democratically elected at one point?

Never the less, you seem to hold your military in high reguard Yell, far higher then it actually is. The response time for your airforce to fly into Georgia, and then prepare to engage Russian forces, means that Russia would have plenty of time to scramble enough air power to cover their tanks.

* EDIT: I mean that the Russians are pouring into Georgias north. 1-2 days is a forever under these circumstances.

The real problem Russia had, was that they were completely off-guard. Unlike the American invasion of Iraq, they had no time to prepare or to stockpile resources (Vechicles, for example, which couldnt get through the northern pass quick enough).

* EDIT: Which is exactly why the Georgians decided to attack and take back their own land.

Georgians were completely stupid to attack and like i said at the start of the thread, they have given Russia a free pass. Russia gets to:
1) Secure the European power market
2) Secure its influence in the region
3) Humiliate America
4) Take control of two provinces
5) Remove the Georgian government (Which has been a thorn in Russia's side).

The Americans told the Georgians not to try anything. It would be stupid. And as far as i can tell, Israel has been slowly dropping support for Georgia for some time now. They did a stupid thing, and their leader is about to pay for it. I just hope he flees before the Russians get their hands on him...

I agree completely that he has to go. He stepped over the line.

The only thing i hope is that if he is to be punished, then he should receive a fair trial. Not like Saddan :S. I dont care how many people you kill, you still deserve a fair trial.

Gee, Russia is there too.

In two days they could fly there, and then they would be operating out of Georgian airbases.  Response time of minutes.

The EU has no spine....period.

As soon as the shots start firing, the FRENCH contingent takes control, and runs for cover.

Unfortunately, the Germans have become French like.

Example ??

Faced w/adversity, they folded their tents, and settled for a silver.

Who do i need to quote on that? Its an awesome statement.

In two days Russia could overrun Georgia with superior numbers. There wouldnt be any airbases left...Which is my point. The U.S. doesnt have the power to do anything that doesnt directly attack Russia.

Re: Russian troops to invade georgia

Cicero said that

Re: Russian troops to invade georgia

The Germans and French are a bunch of hypocrits. They were the ones to veto Georgia's membership to NATO. If Georgia was a memberstate none of this would've happened. And now they're 'spearheading' an EU peace deal, which is bound to fail, all they care about is saving face.

nato doesn't allow any countries with interior problems...

"If Georgia was a memberstate none of this would've happened."

maybe if they haven't attacked noone of this would happen..
a President who declares a ceasefire and 3 hours later his army invades..
then another 8 hours he claims his army never attacked ostsetia  is an idiot anyway...
who the hell should trust him?

you know bevor this whole shit happend Georgia asked germany to negotiate...
we did.. guess who turned our offer down?  georgia because of the pasus "no miltar force will be used to solve this conflict".. russia wanted to sign it....

guess why Georgia did increase its militar spending that hard this year?
25% of there total spending is for the militar...

also who did veto in the un a few hours bevor russia invated a resulutione that asked Georgia to stop bombing and invading Ostsetia...

-They had too... it would be even worse.. just think a NATO member just attack Russia, they have to show that they can defend themselfs. keep in mind that was Georgia who initiates the attack

Re: Russian troops to invade georgia

was Georgia president on drug when he decides to attack Russian?? I just cant see what he can get out of this attack, except getting screwed up everywhere. maybe he was thinking he will get backed up by his big brothers..........................

Russian should probably thank Georgia for giving them a good excuse to invade.

i love you all!

Georgia did not atack Russia, it was trying to restore order to one of it's own provinces.

Re: Russian troops to invade georgia

"nato doesn't allow any countries with interior problems..."

I beg to differ, it was only by a small margin that georgia did not get accepted. The reason why France and Germany refused Georgia was because they feared that they would 'upset the balance of power in Europe'. They fear the Russians, they've quivering in their boots, some things just never change.

"guess why Georgia did increase its militar spending that hard this year?

To meet the NATO guidelines of spending 2 / 2.5% of a nations GDP on defense. They are not at 25% defense spending.
