Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Hmm, the forum wipe killed my calculations of shipyards and stuff, but I think they were based on the conservative estimate of 1 billion to 10 billion stars in the main galaxy.

Of course, with any forum wipe, the possibility exists for a rewrite. smile

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

How about we use this picture to show where everyone is? And where the Kallum was?

And don't forget, ultimately we are all members of the big, happy, UEF family tongue

It's enough tongue

I realized that the Kallum had shitloeads f planets tso more then that would not be reasnable

Because, after all, whatever decided to vaporize one planet, would also think to do it within Fleet territory, would it not? tongue

Depends on the reason, but funnily enough this was going to be my next step.
If things panned out the right way of course.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Wow... You people are totally addicted to Deus Ex Machina.
"They have two million ships!"
"Don't worry, we've just built three million!"
"But there isn't enough rescources in a planet to build a hundred!"
"Shut up"
"Where did we get that much ore from?"
"Erm... Jesus?"

No offence but if this carries on I'll have to leave, you are all leeching all the fun out of it. It's too easy.

"So, it's defeat for you, is it? Someday I must meet a similar fate..."

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

It's not just one person, it just seems like everyone is more concerned with intergalactic dick waving than creating an enjoyable, and believable, story.
Yes, pulling three million warships armed with guns that fire galaxies out of thin air in an effort to one-up the last posters two million ships armed with mass-drivers IS entertainsing if you are a writer, but as a reader?

See, part two was cool: The remains of empires from accross galaxy trapped on one planet having been stomped all over by an overwhelming force so large it ate galaxies for breakfast, their only chance? A daring assassination attempt that would cause the empire to collapse into disarray and infighting as everyone made a grab for the Emperor's throne. No longer a unified force the empire would then surely face the wrath of a thousand races grieving for a billion lost loved ones.
That had drama. That had tension. That was RP!

But this? In the two years since the end of the war everyone has rebuilt their homeworlds (most of which were decimated as they had been gigantic battlegrounds) and re built their colonies, thus establishing an interstellar infrastructure capable of supporting these empires AND the construction of MILLIONS of warships AND have enough babies to man these ships (which seem to need millions of people each)?
Does that sound like a galaxy that was on the brink of extintion just two years ago?

I tell you, Europe could have done with some help from these guys builders after world war two! smile

And what the smeg happened to the cloaking device? Why did that escape plan suddenly become a hyperdrive jump in an atmosphere? Not only do I not have a clue what's happening any more I don't think any of you do either! lol

And why exactly does the planet killer need a fleet of 2000000 to protect it? In fact, if you can make 2000000 ships why make a planet killer at all? I'm pretty sure 2000000 ships could easily deal with a planet.

Sorry but apart from the Logan's Son thing this RP is about as dramatic, tense and predictable as a wrestling match...

...

I think we should start again while we still can.
I don't mean to be an arsehole, but I think I made some good points.

"So, it's defeat for you, is it? Someday I must meet a similar fate..."

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I do tend to agree, this is fun... but it does seem like things have catapulted forward from being a group that barly pulled together a few thousand ships to having millions in a titanic surge across two short years...

Perhpas we simply pick up where we left off in the 2nd Story, or make the 3rd story more reasonable?

I went back and re-read the last few posts, and have found that we are pulling a lot more then a fuzzy bunny out of a hat (myself included, I'm not pointing my fingers elswhere). But its not my personal decision, its up to us all as a whole.

Now, I'll take my seat and let you have the stage...

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

In retrospect, the last few posts _do_ sound a bit ridiculous. Maybe it's the extra energy liberated from the destruction of the old RP forum. Or the lack of creativity generated by such.

We still have time for a rollback if we want. Post 24 or 25 would be a good point to go back to. Removing the planet killer and the ludicrous amount of ships might do the trick.

Of course, if the damage is indeed irreparable, we can always hire the demolition team.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I think we should go as far as that we have killed the emporor and that the kallum are fighting within themselfs to caim the throne and we are the third party jumping into fights and clearing the way. Since with the slipstream drive we could very much do this.

Although i'm not that worried about man power, since UEF are [w00f] bunnies and Cy'Tan makes its people.

If we take what we had in the previous RP and dubbled out ship count or upped 50% that would suffice.

And i do agree with you fokker, dick weaving FTW.

You agree! Thank heavens! I was worried that you'd all fall out with me big_smile
A rollback sound's good to me. And I promise not to steal any more ideas from star trek wink
Planet Killer... how the smeg could that have sounded like a good idea?
Anyway:

A VOTE!

Option 1) Roll back to post 24/25 in the current S:TS
Option 2) Roll Back to just after the assasination of the Emperor in the previous (and theoretical) S:TS

Whichever way you vote that Galactic Map will still be useful.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I vote we keep on going with what we have, but down the ship count through editing.

Then I lived.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

that whole Kyrozch invasion and planet killing is pretty lame, and i dont think they would waste all those prescois rescourses by destroying a planet.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I have it:

You leave the numbers of the enemy but turn it into Kallum and that they just have shitloads of nukes and they nuked a huge part of that other planet.

They attacked in an attempt to retrieve the women and otherone. Since it is obvious they were important for some reason.

Then we just wake up in a ship near the Matrioshka brain after everything is lost. It was all a pretty simulation. So we decide to strengthen one of the parties of the Kallum and make him fight the one that attacked us.

Carl should really get pissed off tho:p.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

"I never recall saying that the Kallum simply evaporated into thin air. Undoubtedly, there are still packets of resistance loyal to the Emperor (and by packets, I'm talking about thousands of planets and some million starships EACH). Owing to simple distances, though, and the distribution of the Unified Fleet, the resistance cells are mostly under control.

This is what you get when you start talking on a galactic scale tongue"

This is from Bloodmoon so maybe the only problem is that the rate of building is waaay too fast and mobilazation is too fast.

Sorry for tripple post (0_o) too lazy to edit into one post

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

thats option two

for my thing to work we'll need to trim down our numbers if we want it to be credable tho.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I propose an entirely new plan, built off of previous ones, in an attempt to please all parties..

1. Obviously we must down size numbers, speed and the size of space the Alliance controls.

2. Move the story back to Post 24 OR do extensive editing to reframe the last few posts.

3. Cut out the Deus Ex Machina and have a 'shit hitting the fan' scenario (Wolves has an excellent idea as how to turn the tides against us, which will allow for a much for tense, dramatic RP) which we can add whether we go back or not.

4. We desperately need to organize a real-time method of communication, this forum isn't evry effective for a discussion like this... Wolves, Bloodmoon and I all use AIM to talk, but I'm sure most us have or have access to IRC, I am currently using IRC on a different server then the default or the IC server, but I'm sure we can work something out.

I hope my plan is a good medium for us, I'm i hope to improve it until it fits all parties. Now then, lets negotiate terms...

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I say we move back to post 24, that would be much easier.
As for communication we could use IRC, create a roleplay channel on the IC server.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I vote we move back to post 24. Rectifying the amount of space the Unified Fleet controls would also be a good idea.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I have done a rough sketch of Blacken and Kallum controlled space, but is on my computer at home, which i cant get to just yet.

The Kallum DO have faster than light travel but it is by far less effective then regular hyper space, meaning they take approx three times as long as UEF ships to jump.

The Kallum also have a sizable chunk of galaxy they control, with there home system gone they had to entirely recreate they leadership. Kallum in-fighting isnt a series threat, most generals do work together, and they dont need no emperor to tell them what to attack.

Then I lived.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

But what is stopping the generals from grabbing power? The other generals perhaps?
That is what the idea of in fighting is based on.
Besides, if the Kallum are still unified then the plan from part 2 has failed and we are all [tree]ed. tongue
