Re: My comming out.
i dont really get the whole Gay Pride week thing - i mean gay is basically normal in todays world you dont need to go around telling everyone on backs of trucks......
its got to the point where the carnival things are not needed anymore cos lgbt people are accepted by nearly everyone and awarness is like 100%...."
If only that was true. Unfortunately, it isn't. Even in "enlightened" Britain, I've been subject to taunts and threats of physical violence. Certain groups of people do not want to accept homosexuality as being normal and do still discriminate, despite legislation forbidding it. So, unfortunately, the world is not as rosey as you'd think.

"being gay isn't normal i'll say it again, it's clearly a psychological problem otherwise our species would die off if we were all loving the same sex ..

Homosexuality is frequently observed in nature. Some examples which are at the forefront of my mind are penguins, chimps and other primates. I think it is the bonobo's shag more or less anything, so long as it is another bonobo and still has a pulse.

"It clearly says in the bible"
Well... that answers a few things! And no one that I know thinks deep down that homosexuality is wrong. You're on your own within your cult on that one I'm afraid.
"And a different gene? unlikely you either get xx or xy and your attracted to the opposite for reasons of survival, anyone that says they are gay are clearly troubled and might have had some past trauma which they make up for by doing that."
The only thing troubling me are those that tell me I'm sick in the head. But allow me to tell you and everyone else something. I noticed at the age of 8 or 9 that I was not heterosexual. I noticed even at such a tender age that I was not "like the other boys" but being so young I didn't fully understand or appreciate exactly what made me different, but make no mistake about it that even then I prefered to look at boys than girls. It took a little bit of time to understand precisely what was going on, but then I was only 9 years old and had been shielded from most things of a sexual nature. Consequently, homosexuality is as natural to me as my eye colour.
"Homosexuality is also the main reason HIV/AIDS is about, HIV/AIDS is contracted the easiest via anal for reasons i need not go into detail about. Hep, and all the other STD's aswell are contracted really easy. Also if you ever noticed gays go around having more than 100 or more sexual partners in their life, it's just fun to them to do these disgusting acts ... thus the reason yet again illness is spread so rapidly amongst their group."
Not all gay men have 100s of partners. I haven't had 100s for starters. None of my gay friends have, either. Like everything, it is the very visibile minority that screw it up for everyone else. But all of the gay people I know and have known, they, like everyone else, are looking for meaningful relationships that will last a lifetime.
As a final thought, there was a very englightening programme on the BBC last week on the subject of homosexuality. John Barrowman - an actor in "Torchwood" - is gay but has always wondered why. There was some aspects of the show which were a little less than scientifically proper (saying that as a physicist) but a lot of it was quite intriguing. For starters, he shared the same x chromosone with his (straight) brother, but they did some MRI tests and some in the psychology profession have done some studies. What was interesting is that in the MRI study, John was shown various erotic images, some heterosexual and some homosexual in nature. He was asked to press a button when an image "pleased" him. In all the cases where he pressed the button, his brain "fired" in regions connected with sexuality before he pressed the button. Nothing in his brain fired with images connected with heterosexuality. Another unconnected study showed that having more older brothers increased your chances of being gay (although they didn't show all of the data which leaves me feeling skeptical on this) and a further one indicated that for men, lower levels of testosterone during development as a foetus quite substantially increases your chance of being gay (which makes perfect sense... a foetus, Cloud, is far more impressionable than any young child
). Which kinda suggests that you are born gay without having a genetic "mutation".
There was far more in the BBC programme than I've mentioned here, so I'd urge any interested individuals to go and search for the programme on the internet. People in the UK can watch the programme up until tomorrow evening on BBC iPlayer. But suffice to say, it really does blow a lot of the "you're sick in the head" arguments out of the water.
To those who understand I extend my hand; To the doubtful I demand to take me as I am.
