Ummmmmm why in gods name would you make RCs early on in the round and not just pure CF?  CF/TO 70/30 is untouchable unless you are going pop, if you ask me..... seemed to be pretty well for me til I was gone most of last week

isnt it routine to do cf/rc in bor?
the ratio for the rc always differ round to round depending
1) if you are warring or not
2) and if iron is expensive or not

Unfortunately we haven't done all that much :-P Though you guys have declared us, most of the systems that were fighting over have been contested throughout most of the round so far. In fact you guys were whooping us :-P

If the team plays correctly or the market prices aren't too wild, the CF/RC start to transition into TOs later will always be stronger than pure CF into TOs. But then again it requires the resourcer as well to play well, and if the resourcer is a bit off and the market is a bit wild or on a strike, you could get screwed over a bit.

Funding research is most often a waste before you get TOs.  This is all pre-TO building. Going CF/RC's will optimally give you faster a larger income than pure CF which in turn will make your TO switch more effective, which again gives you more cash to fund research with after the TO jump. You stop producing RCs once you get TOs of course, and you go funding from there. It's just for a head-start. The RCs you ca neither keep for the small extra RC bonus they'll give you, or demolish and rather get cheaper TOs if you're doing it in one large jump, or at least jumping a lot at once.

If this is played correctly it is better than pure cf/to in almost all the scenarios it can be played in.

If I knew the exact numbers I'd respond, but as I don't I won't. All I know is that the bonus gain from RCs before TOs come into play adds up to become more efficient than CFs only, and then you can demolish the RCs and get cheaper TOs once they come into play you start  funding. it actually works
