I don't like the permissions discord asks for so I won't be using it. I only use a phone these days so that will be the end of me on chat.

Discord asks permission for every different device i log into.  Probably solved when you go for the double authentication, but as I don't use that, it is just a guess.   And a modern chat is nice and is a good thing if you aim for a new player base for an evolving (?) IC.  Closing irc chat is something that goes along with the modern chat, and is a pity for former players that might stop by to see if ic still exists.  Then again should you keep it open for a few people who pop in one or two times a year ?

I like discord. If I can figure it out it must be user friendly.

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.

I dont know, I see benefits from new chat and keeping old chat.

Discord takes a bit of learning just for the basics which many may not enjoy. IRC we all know and can utilizes relatively easily as well as it being a minimal tax on mobile data usage but is the inability to record chats easily its downfall?

I personally prefer keeping IRC, theres something I like about the clean simple aspect of it but I can see why folks want something modern.

Due to a virulent strain of moronic mods, your population are worried they will spawn some of their own therefore they have resorted to wearing mod-idoms. Pop growth is reduced by half.
