For those who are unfamiliar, Discord is a modern chat application (with both desktop and mobile apps) that offers many benefits compared to IRC. A big one in particular is persistence: you can catch up on what was said while you were offline.
The IRC server is still sticking around for awhile, but we do recommend switching over to Discord as soon as you are able. Family IRC channels in particular can still be set by leaders for the time being. We're working on an updated process for that as well and will have more information soon.
