- Yes! I've been bitching about this for years. My best rounds have been in 3 man fams or around that size.

No. Let players decide what works for them best. If you have a fixed structure, then do at least ALL the prefab races except Qezian.

3. Playground style draft - Forum Sign up (To come depending on vote outcome)

Some draft is ok, but there is always a few teams that get screwed because they are stuck with people they don't want. It would be the same as randoming. I would do a 3 man signup, and then random the rest (5 man team).

4. No market during the first 14 days. (depending on mod options)

Absolutely. By then, gives you a chance to catch multi's and such, and gives SS players a more stable stepping stone to push their style of eco play.

5. Smaller map size (50 * 50)

I'm indifferent. Changing size around creates new strategy and gameplay. Keeping the same is just boring.

6. Fewer systems (500 Systems)

Same as above.

7. Reduced starting res (10000gc, 400 Iron, 1000 Food, 75 Octarium, 75 Endurium)

Mixing this up is fun too. Lean rounds vs super rich rounds brings different strategies into play.

8. Round Length 3 months (Partly due to reduced SOR resources)

Could be good, could be bad. We've already seen that.

9. No Allies

Allies are fun! They bring an aspect of control and diplo that the game has lost over the past months/year.

10. No Naps

Can't enforce. Never will. All you can do is remove the option to do them ingame. There will ALWAYS be players who create naps outside the game limitations.

11. No Rules, IAs permitted

A very interesting idea that's been brought up time and time again. Would be fun giving it a shot! I see a lot of butthurt pussy bitches posting whining threads already.

12. Attack limits will be adjusted (if possible) to compensate for no allies and IA's

I'm not against this at all. Give more protection to the ubertards from the better players and forces them to fight each other.

Arby: A very strict mod, reminds me of a fat redneck who drives a truck around all day with a beer in one hand. I hated this guy at the start, however, I played a round in PW with him where he went as an anonymous player. Our fam got smashed up and everyone pretty much left. Arby stayed around and helped out the remaining family. At the end of the round he revealed himself.... My views on him have changed since. Your a good guy.....

If the question is simply "does this round exactly as specified sound good" then there's no point in discussing; just tally the votes and make the choice accordingly.

I would say though a good move would be to take what people are doing here, voting on each individual feature, and move fwd.  You can't please everybody so it's no surprise that most people voted "no" to this specific configuration.  If you let people decide on individual features though you'll get more people that are unhappy with some changes but at the same time are happy with others.  Sounds more balanced.

Take votes per-feature and just do it.  You can discuss these things forever.

no: shoehorning people into anything isn't fun, especially for new players

yes: less space = faster game

yes: fewer systems = more competition

no: 3 months is too long in general, that's only 4 rounds a year.  not much opportunity to try new things, or to have another chance at playing a good round.  this is a huge deterrent to new players.  we should drop this to 2 months at least.  not just this galaxy, but everywhere

yes: only because I like the idea of permitting IA (which needs a name change if legalized), which means official allies would make things confusing

10. No Naps
yes: similarly, doing away with the official mechanism could encourage more fighting and less imperial infra

11. No Rules, IAs permitted
BIG YES: anything goes would be sweet.  let 10 small fams coordinate to destroy a top fam.  IC desperately needs something like this to change up the formula

yes: adjusted as in removed.  this will keep things balanced for allowing small fams to team up against big fans en masse, and allowing big fams appropriate recourse
