Topic: How the 2014 Elections look

Democrats full in retreat, the Republicans win unless they piss their own party off.

Thanks to Obama, Pelosi, and other factors the Democrats are taking a beating.

During the shutdown Obama stretched for his hand in an obvious political ploy. He said "shut down everything" essentially,

He affected fishermen, dually run State and Federal Parks, un-manned monuments, highways going through national parks, businesses which leased rights on national parks and more. This on top of his stopping tours of the White House since the sequester.

He coincidentally stopped World War II veterans from visiting the long awaited WWII monument. This monument is not staffed on Federal Holidays but is open anyways, 24/7/365. He shut it down and Republicans and Veterans showed up in force over it.

22 MILLION Veterans are pissed at that, and 1 million active duty members. This group will drop checks in the mail, volunteer for duty, and help punish the Democrats for what Obama did. He gave us an army bigger than his Union thugs.

Obamacare is gutting his ranks. When a middle class Democrat finds that their premiums, deductible, and co-pay are all up much higher than they expected they quail. This is not how much they were willing to help others with.

More so he is making the low income lower income. Resteraunts are going all part-time, and the Census Bureau shows this in a recent survey. Most small businesses are not hiring, reducing staff for temporaries, or otherwise minimizing the damage. Many are no longer offering insurance either.

Businesses are not alone as Governments around the nation are cutting down hours, positions, and even dropping insurance. Some are getting notices of their plans ending and have to do work to see what they will need to do.

Oh plan terminations... this will kill people. People are dying now due to Obamacare and their stories will be up front. Also will be families, token union workers, and low income stories. We have a year of these stories coming

Obama and Democrats are unable to find a way out either. They need Obamacare for their slush fund but it is toxic. There was an effort to allow plans to continue if you still have them... but this makes those who signed into Obamacare (the very sick and needy mostly) an ultra expensive proposition.

You see the actuaries are now working on the 2015 pricings. Regulations mean this must be submitted a long time in advance. This means a price jump will happen. Yes a JUMP!

Of course the Democrats want that not to happen. Headlines before the election showing another huge jump will kill them, but inaction will also kill them.

Meanwhile Obamacare reduces cash to Democrats from all non corporate sources except Hollywood and Super Rich.

But this gift keeps on giving. You see Project Veritas is making the entire system their punching bag. First up are the Navigators. Hundreds of these are now on film giving instructions that would land a Republican in jail. Under Obama they get fired, suspended, shuffled, or promoted of course.

All of this hits Moderates and inactive Conservatives hard in the gut. Recent polls reflect this so strongly as to be believed.

But wait there is more. The IRS may be temporarily from headlines but this will not last. Thier targetting Tea Party types has made a long-term simmering anger. This will not be forgotten and has resulted in more deep level organizing than most suspect.

Additionally Obama will be charaded in areas where taxes are going up with his no taxes pledge. Low information voters do not know who is increasing their taxes all the time but they sure see their take home pay dwindling. Democrats stand to suffer for raising taxes in Democrat strongholds.

Jobs.... jobs are up in some States by huge numbers. To bad this is mostly Republican States. Pull those good States out and the numbers are grim indeed. Obama did that and Democrats supported him.

Financials will plague the Democrats as well. Their small donors will have less to give, Obama just put doctors in a vice then bis party tried for a little to put the Obamacare failure on insurance companies (who will remember that). Small businesses now blame Democrats for handicapping them and big business is worried about the future so are sitting on their cash.

Compared to 22 million pissed off Veterans, a Tea Party in ascension mode, and a swinging moderate base. Now if we can get conservatives like Chris to stop voting for Cthulu we can run laps around the Democrats.

Democrats are dissarrayed, scared, and losing ground fast. But can the Republicans win this?

What can kill the Republican Party

Any form of amnesty is a sure way to lose 40% of their votes. Snatching defeat from victory could not be done easier.

Mishandling Obamacare and giving the Democrats a scapegoat or a way out. Only will lose 35% or so but more than enough.

Infighting is a possible way for some Democrats to survive otherwise impossible odds. The Tea Party is coming out with fists raised and the Establishment is offering to make it a knife fight. This could get very messy (odds on this happening in my view are very high. Blood will flow).

Boehner.... simply put the man can drop 10% of Republicans on a given day that he tries to lick O's arse.

Right now Obama has dozens of other issues sitting and waiting to trip up Democrats.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Even the Obama admin concedes most plans, even after subsidies are counted in will be more expensive than previous plans.

With ammunition like that how can you all support it?

Re: How the 2014 Elections look

Actually the GOP set up the bill, specifically to defund the Affordable Health Care act, or push it's passage to closer to the year of 2015.

And they added that to the bill which was to fund government offices.  GOP said, take or leave it, and of course the Democrats said, that is pretty close to extortion.

The Tea Party are the one's that shutdown the government, due to their attempt to coerce and extort the other political party.

As for big business', they can kiss my grits.  They been forking over massive amounts of new stock options, and continueing on with more mergers and buyouts, from their record profits in the last four years.  With all that extra money they sure as hell could afford to pay insurance for the workers they had left on their payrolls, after all those massive layoffs in 2008-2009.  Billions of dollars earned, and those CEO's couldn't even part with several million dollars in insurance money?  Give me a break.

Boehner should just start the GOP civil war now, before it grows out of hand.  Stomp the Tea Party's ass back to their extreme fascist right wing box, find proper GOP candidates and get them onboard.  Continued Tea party growth inside congress would be the doom of us all.

The Supreme Court ruled, when it upheld federal regulation of the economy, I think it was mining, that if the American people can't stomach temporary, optional regulations, they are free to elect a House of Representatives that refuses to pay for the regulation.*  The law calling for the regulation would still be on the books, but, there would be no money to fund it.

No Congress is obliged to keep funding federal programs.  Not even the Navy. For instance, if the American people really disliked the War on Drugs, they could elect a House that defunds the DEA. Even if the Senate and President refused to legalize drugs, they could not force the House to vote to pay for the drug cops.

This is not "extortion".  It is democracy.  It is a thousand year old privilege inherited from England.

(* And the court's point was, since the American people had NOT elected a Congress to do that, obviously they didn't all feel like their rights were violated by the regulations.  Not even most of them.

But in 2012, such a House majority was elected, promising to kill Obamacare.)

Re: How the 2014 Elections look

Yes, but there are several programs that were created by those laws, which serve the entire american republic.  Failure to fund these programs had wide, damaging rolls, to millions of american people.  This uncertainty also hit the financial markets, and only created doubt in the functioning of the government as a whole.

Now the Affordable health care, was on the law books it was law.  The Tea party, and general GOP didn't like the law.  Did they defund it specifically...NO...they defunded the entire FRICKEN bill that they attached it too.  When they went after "Obamacare", they could have placed it on seperate legislation for funding, did they do that, NO, they did not.  They attached it to a bunch of other programs into one huge bill, and said, either do what we want...or nothing gets funded on this bill.

Tell me again, what was all on that bill, BESIDES Obamacare?  It just wasn't the health care that was at stake that was being held ransom.

So yes, i'd call it extortion.

Come on Yell.  What was ALL on the bill in question, besides Obamacare, that was being held up by the GOP?  Wasn't just one item...it was a LOT of items.

Re: How the 2014 Elections look

I'd call the Obamacare mandate "extortion".  Why should I buy coverage for neonatal care and breast cancer? But it's buy that or pay a fine.  You have a selective sense of outrage over "extortion".

All the money you hope to have Congress give your programs, is not your money.
It is not theft to take it away from you.

Wrong.

You know those people who get a check for $45 and refuse to cash it because they insist they are owed $50?

That is what the Democrats did.

The Republicans funded all the government programs except Obamacare.
They passed a continuing budget resolution.
All the Democrats had to do was cash that check. They refused until Republicans wrote a new one, for $51.

When they went after "Obamacare", they could have placed it on seperate legislation for funding, did they do that, NO, they did not.  They attached it to a bunch of other programs into one huge bill, and said, either do what we want...or nothing gets funded on this bill.

1. You're not entitled to a red cent.
2. They did do that, and the Senate refused to vote on it.
The Senate has, illegally, refused to pass an annual budget.  The Senate, for five years, illegally, insists on voting up temporary, six month, continuing budget resolutions, to authorize funding.
And what that means is every six months the Senate MUST vote on a continuing resolution.
That's why the House tacked defunding on.  Because that is the only time the Senate votes on such things.

Tbh right now it just looks like Hillary is winning the election. If she does decide to run obviously. Sucks to be you.

Re: How the 2014 Elections look

Well Boehner came out and said they're going forward with amnesty, and McConnell is promising to give the Tea Party a sock in the nose.  So, I think Dems could sweep it and voter turnout will be like 12% of eligible voters

Re: How the 2014 Elections look

I'm so glad speaker Boner backs up president Obama. It'd be a shame if the parties really fought each other. Stuff wouldn't get done so well. And I trust the international banks that order both parties around. They just want a better life for me and my family.
