Topic: The history of Israel
This history lesson is brought on because a wrongful statement by Key. Ignorance is high on this topic.
Pre-WWII Jews were feeling pressure and blame for a number of societies problems. Inflation, poverty, and other fiscal woes were especially blamed on the generally hard working Jews.
Israel and surrounding lands were under British rule (known as the mandate of Palestine) and the population was sparse and limited. There was a limited presence of Jews, Christians, Muslims and other (minority) religions. The land was hard and harsh after so many wars and most civilians had fled a century or more ago to less dangerous lands.
Israeli's, or Jews as they were then, started a very small trickle to modern day Israel. These settlers were welcomed for they brought wealth, expertise and needed skills to the lands.
During the war Jews started in ernest moving to Israel, while in larger numbers it was still to little to alarm anyone. These immigrants brought more wealth and more tools to the lands and minor enclaves started up in less hospitable lands. However with their skills and knowledge these areas quickly became functional and prosperous.
After the war Jews wanted safety and the Jews in British occupied Israel beckoned with open arms. Thus started the first wave of major immigrations.
Now various Mullahs and leaders saw this as a bad thing. They extolled that Arabs must fill Israel as well so even more migrations happened.
Fighting happened between enclaves and the Brit's were reducing their empire size voluntarily. England made two nations out the occupied lands: Israel and Jordan. There was a time table for this to occur but the Arabs attempted to seize Israel and to remove the Jews, to which they found prepared Jews who instead won.
The nation of Israel was born only to have Arab nations prepare for war with it. Being told that war was going to happen most Arab immigrants and some normal residents left Israel. They were promised these lands would be given to them after the Jews were wiped out.
The war of course ended in Israel's favor. Contrary to popular opinion not all Arabs left and none remaining were stripped of citizenship. All who were there at the end of the war were citizens in the still brand new nation.
Israel knew the fleeing Arabs were offered everything if they were wiped out and thus they denied return to those ex-immigrants who left. Those immigrants chose a name for themselves as "Palestinian's"(note this was the British name since the Arabic language has no P's present.) and made their claim over all of the lands of Israel.
The immigrants who left were also rejected by their home nations, seems none of them wanted to lose a "causi belli" that made for good propoganda. For them a weak token to a justifiable cause for war was more important than the immigrants futures.
