I think the point is, although you're SS, you're still a part of the fam. So in answer to your question - if your fam goes to war, that means you too. If you start some shit, it affects your fam too.
Because IC success is based on your fam doing well. Why do you think we have role specialisation? Attackers often have low networth. This is selfless. They dont play for ranks. Same with CF banking. THere's no glory in individual networth for a CF banker, but they do it for the fam benefit.
Similarly, even as SS, you're a part of the fam. So you're bound to how your leader plays.
Think you're being hard done by and it's unfair? Well ya, it might be, but you're not without options:
- Become the leader, and prove you can do a better job for fam direction. Even if you're SS.
- Join another fam and play with friends/like minded people (drafing exists)
- Find another fam, with a different leader.
Yes, we undertsand that your fam members have consequences on your fam progress. But if family concept does not suit you, this is why Mods also provide SS galaxies, like Orion (and SD previously). Those were hardcore versions, and now with Supernova, we've brought out non hardcore too.
In summary, you can play SS - it's never a problem. But in a family, you're still bound to how they play and what they do. And as such, it's in your interest to help them and they you.
If you want 'solely' independent play - well, now you have it with the SS galaxies.
