"Yes, I am to an extent. First of all, I don't "plan" anything. I suggest. It's not in my authority to plan and make changes of this nature. In any case, everyone knows theres differences in playstyle between PW and MW, noone argues with this either.. The same is true For Andromeda and Triangulum. However, as a Dev, I see it as my job to look at the bigger picture here. I try to think on what's good for the overall game. Can I always be right? No, ofcourse not. I just share my opinion and why I think so. And this is one of those things. With specific regards to PW players, ofcourse they'll have this resentment of merging. If there were only 10 players left in IC, 5 from PW 5 from MW, they STILL wouldn't want to merge and would rather continue playing their own playstyles. Is this necessarily the best way forward? No, personally, I don't think so."
i'm sorry Torq but i really have to take issue with you here. it seems that maybe you still dont understand. you say as a dev its your job to look at the bigger picture which its obvious to me that you're not at all. and you also claim that pw players have a resentment of merging which is also incorrect.
there is no resentment. what there is tho is a passionate response to a 'bigger picture' being forced (it seems) onto them. and where is the bigger picture when you lump everyone into the same place? having the 2 galaxies provides people with good choices to suit their circumstances at the time. mw is obviously a galaxy for real hc players who like to have their fun a bit more intensely than those that prefer pw with shorter rounds, smaller families and a lighter atmosphere.
yes we have been losing players but we still have a reasonable and playable core player base for both galaxies. there's a silly saying that goes 'if it aint broke then dont fix it'. well ic aint broke yet, just a bit dented. to attract more players, one of the things we'll need is a bit of variety.
us players can see that, which is a good part of the reason why we fight so hard to keep pw. not thru resentment but for survival
