Topic: New Tag Point loss system

Seems far too harsh and unnecessarily general. Making any use of swear words punishable by loss of tag points makes gathering tag points a near impossible thing to accomplish, eventually causing people to just give up all together.

Also, a deduction of 5 tag points for some offenses? Ridiculous! 5 tag points takes years to accumulate at current speeds, it's not fair to suddenly deduct 5 for using 5 (or more) swear words (or you'd have to make it easier to gain tag points...).

Re: New Tag Point loss system

RisingDown, I gather they were talking about making it easier to obtain tagpoints too. But ignoring that factor, is it really so hard to obey the forum rules that you should fear high penalties?

Yes it will also be easier to gain tagpoints as well. AS Gwynedd said, is it really so hard to obey the forum rules? They really arent that hard to follow

Re: New Tag Point loss system

POINT DEDUCTION

Violation of forum rules (usually resulting in Closed Thread). -1

Swear word violation -1 for each violation within a post, to a maximum deduction of -5.  Maximum will result in an Official Warning.

Official Warning (Qualitative, based on nature of post). -5

Subsequent Offense = Forum Ban and loss of all Tag Points.

===============================

All I have to say is that some mods must have been on drugs late night, this 'absurd' as much as 'unnecessary' penalties table, reminds me of some rulebooks we had on dictatorship of Franco in 1970 decade  (or decadence I might say).

I hope this is announcement is just a joke guys wink  I'm unable to fit those words and KT writing them

I have posted several times the way education and progress go, and it's not by punishing the bad guys. If you reward the honoured/fair/educated/bright people then all the people will tend to act the right way.  If you only punish, then you'll get rebels against you, because rebeldy is their only cause. (OUR only kause)

so ..... [screw] OFF THIS DEDUKTION SHIT!!!   big_smile

If you don't have a stick then you won't obtain compliance with the rules. Whilst the carrot helps, it does nothing if there aren't consequences.

Re: New Tag Point loss system

I agree with Render, this is just some silly censoring.

"    Swear word violation -1 for each violation within a post, to a maximum deduction of -5.  Maximum will result in an Official Warning."
This is just silly and childish. People should know for themselves to keep swearing to a minimum, and I myself do not see the odd curseword every now and then as a problem. Some curse words have become socially accepted even, or at least amongst the younger demographics. Language is always changing, and so are the definitions of words and their intended purpose. (example: words like "gay", "shit", and in some contexts "[BLAM]" (what the [BLAM], etc.). Now don't -1 me for each of these, I'm trying to be serious about the consequences of producing such vague rules >_<)

"    Official Warning (Qualitative, based on nature of post). -5"
Warnings are based on the subjective view of (forum) mods, or is there a list of hard indications for official warnings? If not, I'd work to make one first before giving such consequences to something entirely subjective.

*Expression of point duly noted, so no points are deducted for actually having logical reasoning in your post. But do please, refrain from using them again in future posts. smile

Re: New Tag Point loss system

They are not vague. They are the same language rules as in #mod. You know which times you can get away with saying a word, within it's context. Some words you cannot say at all. You know this. Is it censoring? Of course, but it's also called being civil.

1. Use appropriate language
Do not use language which is sexually explicit, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive. This includes both clear and implied language, images, or links to websites with such content. Posts and thread titles consisting of this language will be edited accordingly. Masking profanity/insults will also be censored. Abbreviations, such as WTF, are acceptable.

Re: New Tag Point loss system

I would like to remind people that tagpoints are meant to be enjoyed by all but players are by no means entitled to them.  I put in effort to make it easy for the staff to reward players on a post-specific basis when people make positive contributions.  The flipside is that they can just as easily take them away from people who break rules.

Players can choose to abide by the rules they agreed to upon signup or they can choose to ignore them in which case they will be punished.  Either way, tagpoints and in particular post-specific tagpoints can just as easily be taken away entirely with everybody being simply, "Player".  Obviously nobody wants this.

In other words: follow the rules and there won't be a problem.  Break the rules and you will be punished.  There has been too much going on lately with people swearing freely and making personal attacks.  This will not be tolerated.

Play it safe: think before you post.

There are people of all ages, and all types of background on these forums. Just because you see a word as socially acceptable does not mean others do. Swearing in forums is against the forum rules, if people dont follow them, there is no reason why they shouldnt be punished.

You must be drunk Render.

The FORUM RULES haven't been changed. Just how tag points are manipulated.

No actually, it's more like if there is a player base that is used to being able to swear without repercussion, they are now being told that they actually have to follow the rules they agreed to when they signed up.  In fact, that's exactly what it is.

Interesting theory, but an incorrect one.  We are simply posting the guide that we are going to be following, as a courtesy.  We do not have to do that but we are in the name of fairness and transparency/open communication.

If you are incapable of posting without swearing, then you are correct: better to not post at all.

Re: New Tag Point loss system

lol 1st of all, I dont know what 'swearing' is, but if you're talking about whine threads with diskussions, trash talk, etz, I konsider those threads spizy gold of this forums. Without them this forums would be another boring site where people writes boring stuff without feelings.

You kould have rather dezided, instead of this absurd tagpoint reduktion, to tell people to use more the "Report" button everytime they feel offended by what somebody's posted, then fmods zhek it and apply a temp ban (like it has always been yikes).

but meh, this u are treating us like zhildren in the skhool eksit, I give you a sweet but talk good or I take it away, like if we gonna kry and flounder and we kannot sleep at night bkause we lost a tagpoint!  lol

Ah I see.  Swearing means like cursing, using vulgar words.  Anything we have to edit to do like [this] to.  I agree the trash talk is ok and even good for the forum, but there are still rules to follow with that.  No bad words, and no personal attacks, racism, etc.

I appreciate the suggestion, but our decision is that it isn't enough.  We unfortunately have to take a more strict approach because people have shown that they are unable to control their language.

You may joke, but look at how much you've talked about it already.  You clearly do not like losing tagpoints so this is already an effective system.

Render should get tagpoints because he does not speak English as a first language but he knows what "titillating" means

LOL I'm posting a lot bkause I think this is krossroad and you're following the wrong path, so you kan re-evaluate the situation and step bak bfore you go further on diktaktorship rules.

About losing tps, if I only knew how many I have then I kould worry, but you add & retrieve waht you want without us knowing where we are at any point.

And also, I have done some 'kontributive' suggestions in this last posts, and I'm telling you guys dekline this punishment for the goodness of the game (my opinion as a hearted rebel, right?), henze I demand my tagpoint bak! smile  and another one for my awesomenessss

This is ridiculous.  If we were a dictatorship I would be banning people on first offense, and I honestly would love to do that.  However, that isn't the most fair thing so you guys are given WARNINGS in the form of and in addition to tagpoint deductions.  What dictatorship gives warnings?

Again, the removal of tagpoints is a fairly lenient punishment.  If you prefer we can remove forum tags altogether and just start banning people without warning instead.  If we did that I might agree more with your dictatorship comment, although even then you would still simply be facing punishment for violating rules that you agreed to when you signed up for the game.

This isn't difficult.  Don't break the rules and you won't have a problem.
