Topic: 7 and 8 team family's is not working.

Being that IC is now about 15 years old. Its become like a social site for communications, Some of the best times on IC is when your in IRC with 10 of your other family members planning.  More if allies are there to.

Now theirs like 5 people to a chat at best, some times less, pretty boring. I think social part of the game has a big deal to do with the fun levels in ic

Maybe ICPG again that way actively people can be a arranged on even teams.

I've been trying to setup PW with 12 fams of 5 members eazh, sinze PW71, but mods will not listen

There's a problem with activity that is the result of various other problems.  Unfortunately, even with larger families we won't see much of a difference.  In fact it might even be worse.

We had much larger families last round and while it may have been good for some people, it left the possibility open of having a large family full of inactives.  As one of the few active people in my family last round, that was incredibly frustrating.

Having smaller families has made this less of a problem, although it is still not quite right.  I personally think even smaller families would be better, with the opportunity to ally 2 other families again.  This would give you the opportunity for social experience you're describing through a 15 person alliance, if we had 5 man fams as Render is describing.

Unfortunately, the smaller a family gets, the more painful it is when any one member goes inactive.  It's a complicated problem with pros and cons for going larger and going smaller.

The root problem though isn't family size, it's the impact inactive players have on families of any size.  There are a few ideas floating around that are directly or indirectly related to increasing social activity and/or easing the pain caused by inactive team members:

actually its not true, fam chats may not have that many people anymore but i do have all my family members on whatsapp. we have a chatroom thats not confined to being on mirc chat. and its much more interactive too! in fact ive been doing this for rounds and most of the players i played with have this=P

I agree with Pie here that theres pros and cons for small and big families. I personally enjoy the smaller fams more cause it gives you more fights during the round.

That's the reasoning behind smaller fams. Means more of the which leads to more targets and wars, and less farming. I ran a 3 man fam in pinwheel last round. We almost finished top 5 to families that had 5 or 6 active players. Adjust your strategy to fit your fam and you'll do fine.

Arby: A very strict mod, reminds me of a fat redneck who drives a truck around all day with a beer in one hand. I hated this guy at the start, however, I played a round in PW with him where he went as an anonymous player. Our fam got smashed up and everyone pretty much left. Arby stayed around and helped out the remaining family. At the end of the round he revealed himself.... My views on him have changed since. Your a good guy.....

In round 3, my 3-man family came second @ EOR NW - outclassing 118 other families, mainly of 17-20 active players.
