Crazy people shouldn't smoke pot because it triggers some of their craziness? Shocking information.

They shouldn't drink alcohol either. Or smoke cigarettes. Or fall in love (avoid obsession). Or get into intense situations (avoid adrenaline).

It doesn't make them crazy. It's just something crazy people should avoid, like plenty of other things which are not inherently bad or unhealthy.

I have an idea. Personal responsibility! If a few puffs on a joint makes you a paranoid crazy person, stop smoking! If you're already nuts, don't smoke! Problem solved. I'm so brilliant.

That study is ridicolous. Ive been smoking weed almost everyday for the better part of the last 20 years. Im nowhere near psychotic. Maybe a little wierd and spacy sometimes! LOL!! You cant study X amount of people and then try to claim that EVERYONE who smokes weed is gonna be affected by it like that. People are different and weed effects people in different ways.

@Justinian: Smoking weed is no more despicable than someone who drinks alcohol. The difference is one is legal and the other isnt. One is more socially acceptable than the other. Despicable is a harsh word dude! Murderers and rapists are despicable.

Tell that to my brother who works 2 jobs, raises 3 kids and is going to school. Hes one of the hardest workers i know and his kids are well adjusted and doing great in school.

Tell that to my manager who successfully manages the busiest Arbys store in the entire state of Minnesota. Oh....hes married, has 3 kids and owns his own woodworking business on the side.

Tell that to my friend that owns his own autoshop that employs 20 or so workers. Hes also married and has 4 kids, 1 of which just graduated from the University of Minnesota with honors.

Tell that to my cousin who owns and operates a succsessful movie theater that employs well over 150 people. Shes also part owner of a restaurant. Shes married with 3 kids, all of which are doing great in school.

Or how about me....i work my ass off at my job and i got promoted within 6 months of being hired. Within the next 6-7 months i expect to be promoted again. I have a strong work ethic and ive been teaching that to my daughter who happens to be getting all As and Bs in school. Shes a well adjusted good kid.

See what im getting at here? These are just a few examples of people i know. I could give you another 20 LOL

When you generalize and make statements based off what youve seen on TV or in the movies, it comes off ignorant. Not everyone who smokes weed is some lazy retard that sits around all day getting stoned. Thousands of marijuana users live respectable normal lives like anyone else does.

AA I have LONG contended a certain amount of the population suffers medical level severe side effects from pot.

This study reinforces my claims.

I also contend that a certain percentage have only good effects, a certain percentage have addiction problems, a certain percentage have no real effects and a certain percentage feel the urge to try harder drugs.

This study directly links certain gene patterns to medical issues. Ergo it is possible genetics can play into ALL of my claims.

Unless similar studies tested other psychoactive substances and found no connect, this study is not evidence of any direct link.

I agree with you 100% more or less. But pot can indeed cause psychosis. I smoked weed a couple years till the point I noticed it was starting to make me paranoid. The usual everybody is looking at me feeling etc and indeed it was making me lazy/too easygoing.

So I stopped with that since the Cup Final between Spain-Holland and switched too hashies and I am buying the lower quality now, that helps a lot too(well it solved my problem completely:P), seeing the top notch stuff we can buy here, it can/should be considered as hardrugs, while officially according to our laws, weed/hashies is a softdrug. But with the recent progress in growing etc, the stuff we can buy gets stronger & stronger.

So, it doesn't causes anything specifically, but if you aren't 100% sane, it can cause something =P

Why would I care?

If they break laws, prosecute them. If they smoke a joint on their porch with a few beers before making love to their beautiful women, why the hell would I care? I certainly don't want to pay taxes to prosecute people for smoking marijuana any more than I want to pay for the prosecution of people for drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco.

Einstein's cited a study that shows that some people aren't real bright, some people are unstable, some people are very anxious, and these people won't enjoy smoking pot. So what? Who cares? Solution: Don't smoke pot. Imaginary problem solved.

The vast majority of people who smoke have absolutely no problem with it, and these people who supposedly lose their heads all calm down within hours. Nobody forces anyone to smoke. What, exactly, is the problem here justifying wasting billions of tax dollars and locking people up for smoking a plant that grows all over the world and people have smoked for thousands of years?

The Hebrews burned marijuana as incense. Jesus was a Hebrew. And no, none of them were dumb enough not to notice a relaxing and euphoric quality to the smoke.

OHNOES RELAXATION AND EUPHORIA! Sounds evil. Must outlaw. And spend billions combating it to no effect. And enrich drug cartels. And get law enforcement and by-standers killed. ...All because some people who should know better than to drink alcohol or use any psychoactive drug might feel uncomfortable for a few hours if they smoke it? Really? That's all you got?

Sounds sketchy. I'll bet if I researched it, I'd find out that marijuana was outlawed in the USA because it was the preferred substance of Mexican and black people. Oh, wait, I have. Oh, wait, that's why it was outlawed.

I don't really understand why this study is significant.  It doesn't say that pot is bad in general, it says that pot is bad for certain people that have a genetic predisposition to "possibly" have psychosis triggered by the use of cannabis. 

It seems similar to certain allergies.  I know people that face potential death from eating peanuts, but if they ever made tried to make peanut butter illegal at a federal level people would rise up in protests.  All this study does is reinforce the idea that it is extremely difficult generalize what is healthy on a for everyone, as it varies from individual to individual.

There is a push to ban eating peanutbutter and peanuts in public places as well as making a seperate, secure and enclosed space for bulk peanut sales.

In any event I have claimed certain things and this supports with solid genetic proof I was correct on one.

I look forward to further studies validating my "No Pot" stance on a genetic level.
