Topic: ABout SS game-play

Anybody knows where I can find a strategy about playing as an Self-sufficient attacker?

I have tried searching for it, but can't find anything related to SS gameplay. A link will do.

If no strat exist, would some kind soul post a brief strategy as an SS attacker, preferably on BOR gameplay, mid-round gameplay and EOR gameplay.  Thanks.

Re: ABout SS game-play

90 % of all ss'ers fail. But there are a few that are extremly succesfull. I think the trick was to not make cash and rescourses but soly rescourses and then sell in the market.

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: ABout SS game-play

uhuh... Thats why I asked here what is the best way to play as SS, so as to be extremely successfull.

Re: ABout SS game-play

"its a secret passed around us that played almost since beta before devout family organization occured" woooooooooooooooo....!!!!!!!!!!  LOL My first family was completely SS...we had big guys that supported little guys and that was it, no wierd banker/attacker duos trying to get max efficiency in construction and income bonuses and so miuch good old do-it-your-selfers.  Its not recommended, takes too much work and profound use of the market to get in the top 10 let alone the few and the proud SS'ers that have taken 1st in the galaxies at some point in their IC playbooks.

Re: ABout SS game-play

lol, I've seen people do this though and it seemed to work out 50/50.  Eitherway you piss off half the galaxy.  Find a family next to you, after you build up your first planet with whatever produces income and attempt to buy some iron here and there for transports, find a family next to yours that doesn't look like they'll get in the top 10.  Get 10  transports and some soldiers and send them out right as they are exploring...see if you can swipe away 10 planets just like that and jump your way into the top 10.

Re: ABout SS game-play

lol ironwill... it seems no one really knows how to play SS.

Re: ABout SS game-play

wardacner, cash BOR, then build according to market.

Rapeeeeee

Re: ABout SS game-play

all ss's i know play market like mad, id imagine if u can get enough planets, u could be very successful no matter the strat?

Rapeeeeee

Re: ABout SS game-play

Yeah... I think most SS play mostly full resourses. There is no fixed strat btw tongue. The thing is a LOT of the players who have been great SS have generally gone rogue on their own fams or nearby fams to gain the early income bonus.

The basic idea though is to build lots of resourses, sell them, build more. Stay in a few systems (If you can even hold 6-7 systems you are good and own all planets in it). That way, noone can come in whom you cant remove. It will make for a very boring round though. The team part of IC is what makes it fun.

Re: ABout SS game-play

the few system strat is just dumb imo:p makes you too easy to wipe out.
I like going with a 50% eco strat when i SS, going resources based might be more effecient if you are very active, but being eco based is just way more relaxing and fun imo. I consider myself fairly succesful as a SS player( have won by size as eco based ss twice - in pw though:p) contact me in chat if you want any help/tips

Re: ABout SS game-play

How tongue?

The only major danger is if people raid you with tickers. Otherwise, anyone infiltrating your systems can be kicked out, even small players, cause they would need to attack you to get in tongue

Re: ABout SS game-play

SS is really hard for some players, but it is easy if you aren't stupid. Even as a SS, try to pick up a eager player or partner up with another attacker. I agree with Yesbesyoo. It is really easy to get good size ranking playing SS. I got around 400 planets easily.

The main goal is grow huge! The start is really simple, there is nothing to it. Just make sure that you are not too eagar to war early on because you are mostly infra whoring and would lose to any true attacker. So stay close to core and infra up. - btw rc!

2-3 weeks, start knocking and pushing and getting stronger hold of outposts Get like 5-6 planets in each of your outposts. If you have only 1-2 planets in each of your outposts, they are easy to knock out. Your main job will just be cleaning yoursystems.. No need to do any real major attacks during this time. If you attack too much - your morale drains way too fast and you make too many enemies. You have to pick your fight as a SS because morale is limited.

3-4 weeks, if you are a good ss player, you should be top 10 or 20 in nw for sure. PW is too easy for that wink. When this happens, start looking at tickers. During this phase, I believe the straight up custom attacker race excel more than the 50% income/attack race because you can whack people really easy. Pair up with a retaker or a smaller nw attacker to help you mop up. You have your fam and your allies, you just need one other person to help you to do retakes.
Sometimes you will find a system with all bankers and 1-2 attackers that are below your nw.

When that happens

1) attack couple of the bankers planets, wait until the attackers retake, then blow the attacker's planets. Then do FTP on the attacker and blow his nearby portals or cpff them smile. Cpff is so damn useful. Then rape the banker in the system thats left. If more retakes occur, ask your helper to retake while you clear farther portals. Afterwards, split the rewards smile.
2 rounds ago, I blew up around 30-40 planets of a small attacker so he can't retake.

By 5th week in pw, round is almost over. You are way too damn big anyways. You can fight head to head with the top attackers because they all have a huge ass fleet with a lot more funding than you. Of course you can jump your fleet to their size but it ruins your eor jump. So it is your choice to either fight the top attackers at this time or save up and avoid them and do eor jump to get to top 5 in nw.

Re: ABout SS game-play

wahaha... thanks a lot guys. I get the main idea about SS now.  big_smile

Re: ABout SS game-play

btw there are two race you can basically do

50% income + 50% attack - or a little variation on that

or just go custom attacker race, i make sure i grab cpff. Because sometimes big attackers are impossible to break - better to jump 200k wizzie then to jump 500k ground smile.

Re: ABout SS game-play

50% income you dont need

Re: ABout SS game-play

some players play really well with that 50/50 income/attacck, i dont but they do so its a try smile

Re: ABout SS game-play

all that stuff into income will make you lose shit like spells and ops, so you cant be SS.

Re: ABout SS game-play

You should listen to Raven Claw, hes a good SS

Sure you cant get every spell you want if you use 100 racepoints on getting +50% eco, but that does not mean your +50eco ss race aint good...just pick the ops you want a bit more carefull, like picking cpff to capture planets from big attackers or DU, to prevent them from portaling in your system.

i think i was a bit to harsh on you trigster...i just imagined how boring it would be to just stay in 7-8 systems and try to hold them, when you are a SS by choise its often because you both like attacking and infrawhoring, and this way the attacking part seems to be missing (well thats my opinion..)... personally i like to have about 3 planets pr system, and then work with my fam to keep our system clear.

Re: ABout SS game-play

Basic SS attacker :

BOR : Build res planets, try to equal out on each new planet. If you then lose a planet, your real econ wont suffer too big a damage. USE SCIENCE AND OPS !!!! Play market and remain active. Remember some lasers.

Mid-round : Get strong spread, pinch and pull planets from mid-ranked/lower fams, not too many unless there is a war involved. Remember lasers. Portals will be your main way of spreading out like a disease. Keep playing market, and save off alittle percentage of everyday earnings.

EOR : Attack ALOT, the planets you gain during this phase you shall want to keep 90% of. Remember, all the planets you gain, are yours to hold. This is an opportune time to clear out shares + 1-5 tickers. Be shifty, like the ninja, dont let them know where you'll hit next. Sab and DU in several directions, hit only one or two of the directions your opened. Enjoy your enemies trembling in fear. Your saves should be great enough for a couple of complete fleet rebuilds. A true SS wont do EoR jump, EoR jumps are for banker [fridge] and their friends. You keep focussed on the battle. More planets = more glory. Get so fat they'll think Ricki Lake was anorexic. Enjoy your enemies jealousy. Get really drunk. Enjoy a good round ended.

A note to f-mod Gwynned and accomplices :

When I posted banker[paddlepops], I mean the [paddlepop]-version, as the [paddlepops] version can be much tougher than anything at times.

Therefore I feel the above-posted censorship was incorrect and that an apology is in due.

Ramiel, this is a warning. You have used language that you clearly know isn't acceptable, after it has previously been edited out of one of your posts. The rules are for everyone.
