Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

Why not change the score calculation so it's based on offensive actions? It's currently based on who can infra whore the best and who signs the most NAPs, which totally destroys the point of this game.

For example ops could award points based on effectivenes

Nuking - points based on the amount/worth of buildings destroyed
Electric storms / Hysteria - points based on the amount of people killed
Reduce food production - points based on the amount of food production reduced
etc..

Attacking / Defending - award points based on enemy fleet killed

Now here is where it gets interesting, you can divide the score of a family by the number of planets to give each planet a score value. When you take a planet from someone you also steal the score associated with it.

I think this idea will entice families to attack bigger families (more score to win) and signing NAPS with all your neighbours wont happen so fast either.

Obviously this should be worked out a bit more but this could be the game changer that everyone has been waiting for!

Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

You seem to forget that nobody cares about Score.

You can't change people's playing style by giving imaginary points as a reward. If we want more conflict there should be more reason to war. For example make the families smaller so you get more families and more competition, make the galaxy smaller and have less systems.

The changes that have been made before the start of the current round are devastating to the conflict in the game. There are more planets per player and fewer families than last round. This will ensure an explo phase lasting the entire round and only 2-3 families to attack for the entire round.

A different score system won't give more conflict if the mods don't think about the consequences before implementing mayor changes.

Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

Nobody cares about score right now because the system behind it doesnt make much sense, once there is a good and fun system in place people will start to care.

Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

Best Idea I have read in a long time.

It would make score actually usefull smile

Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

good idea, but this must be the 10th time somebody tries to arrange the score system and it was never changed, so dont put much hope on it.
also I was looking for my old idea about how to change the score thingie, but old ideas are lost (all previous to jan 2011)

Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

this is a great idea but paashaas does raise a very valid point.  imagine all the good it'll do IC if you do both (i.e. change how score is calculated AND make families smaller so you have more overall)

nonetheless, i don't think it'd be a good idea to steal score when you take planets because that might still encourage farming.  BUT if you implemented a bonus multiplier based on whether the family you're attacking is bigger or smaller than you, i think it would give fams more incentive to fight someone bigger than them

Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

A good example is that newly people , in 99.9% of the times, choose for the 'save' Revalons race.. I remember the days that there weren't enuff bankers cause all wanted to attack, what happened?

The result also seems into the insane amounts of planets nowadays is asked for a nap, or the big wars that are closed after mainly fleet losses, what happened with 'rather die trying',  points to my signature in Dutch tongue

Re: Bring back the Conflict to Imperial Conflict

Score is dumb and should never have been implemented in the first place. Families should be ranked by size for default.

Obsessed is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.
