Re: MW Infra bug

And Elohir I did not make infra when in their fam.

I left and went to my chosen fam.

Re: MW Infra bug

Now we know your build plan so on the reset, MW will know how to counter your build!  HAH!

just remove dukeys fam and lets continue big_smile

Re: MW Infra bug

As far as I can tell, the bug has been resolved. Thanks for all the input to help me solve this. If you want the full specifics on the bug, let me know tongue

Re: MW Infra bug

I'm curious to know what the problem was and how it was caused

Re: MW Infra bug

My conclusion is that the bug has always been around, but only occurs under specific conditions.

If a player deletes while having pre-built and another player joins that family, taking over that particular planet in the home system, those buildings still get built on that planet even though the owner has changed. Has to do something with timing. In this case because MW was increased in size twice, a certain intensity on deletes and quick joining created these specific conditions.

In the end the bug itself was just old flawed code. tongue

Re: MW Infra bug

Doesn't really explain at least 2 of the 3 reported occurances tbh.

Dukey's fam had 2 people affected but only one delete.

Einstein's fam mate had 178 lasers build on a planet that wasn't even in HS.
1) Starting resources are not enough to build 178 lasers
2) The planet wasn't in HS
3) IIRC they got the lasers on like 2nd day of round, way after 8 ticks from start (laser building time)

Re: MW Infra bug

There could be other conditions resulting in triggering the same flawed code. I checked the buildings that Dukey had and they were all constructed by an unknown player that was already deleted by the system. It is hard too determine much more than that since hardly any info about that deleted player is still available.

When buildings are built they are put in a queue with a timer (construction time) when it reaches 0, they are built. This actual building was based on planet coords and missed some double checks like whether the owner of the construction order was the same as the owner of the planet. Either way someone placed the buildings in the queue for that specific planet.

Re: MW Infra bug

Hmm could be that the empire who had 178 lasers built triggered the queue into action right when he/she explored the planet. But it was not HS so it could be something from last round maybe? Same for the 2nd guy who had the bug in dukey's fam. Would be good to know if the building queue can somehow under some circumstances last over a new round.

Re: MW Infra bug

Hard to say with only those three instances. Either way the bug should not occur anymore.
