Re: Catalan Secession?

What's the deal about this, does the EU even allow for it? And if not, what?

They got meteor sighting spammed and forgot to move the stability slider because they're too busy minting.

Re: Catalan Secession?

I think they got rid of it after Franco died.

Re: Catalan Secession?

How long til they can move a policy slider toward decentralization?

Re: Catalan Secession?

Only suckers move towards decentralisation.

Re: Catalan Secession?

But unless they move toward decentralization, how else would you suggest a short-term stability boost?  Yeah, the income modifiers are bad, but the one-off stability boost could counterbalance that in the short run, so the economy could then be repaired over the time it takes to move the slider back later!

Re: Catalan Secession?

Only a 1/3 chance of getting +1 stability though, do they want to risk not getting it AND still weakening their economy?

Re: Catalan Secession?

But if they just straight fund stability, how long will it take them to hope to get even one level of stability, with all that minting?  Is it really a successful strat to slowly sit at negative stability and play rebel whack-a-mole while already having enough money trouble?

"Does the EU even allow for it?"

It's not the EU's business. If a Eurocrat were to say that Catalans cannot secessede then he'll have Hell to pay.

They clearly don't have enough money and Rajoy obviously only has ADM 3.

OK but.  Then EU will get petitioned from everybody from the Basques to the Scots, and what's the program?  Yes? No? Maybe? We can have beer but no sleepovers?

EU can't forbid or approve such a thing. People can petition all they want, they'd just be wasting paper.

Re: Catalan Secession?

The nations in the EU dominate politics. To counter this the EU-commission proposed a policy of the "regions" to weaken the nations and gain influence and support at this political and governmental level. Even centralistic nations like France changed to decentralisationin the recent years. The financial crisis caused many regions to call for financial independence in the last years. Northen Italy, Catalania in Spain and Scotland in GB demand for more self-administration or even full independence. In some nations, e. g. Poland (Silesian Autonomy), new movements receive strong support by the population. In most cases people refuse to pay taxmoney to support weak areas in their nation.
