Re: Employment
Well I am an employer now. Have been since the start of the Month.
Her contract employee pay is low at first (heck this month I am even letting her finish her studies with the pay intact) but I am paying for 5 months of work starting part time and hopefully ending full time with much higher pay.
I was per item paying Zarf for work but that is not even considered Part-Time work. He edited papers, wrote some stuff for me and did some research.
But as I enter the ranks of employer I cannot help but to think of the misconceptions against employment, businesses, and the rich.
Fact #1: It takes money to employ someone (I do not count volunteers and interns as employees)
Fact #2: It is difficult for a poor person to be an employer
Fact #3: An employee needs to provide value beyond their pay
So eventually people can find out what I pay her due to campaign finance laws but I won't say here. I am paying her a fixed amount plus expenses.
I could not do this if I was poor. If it was for business I would expect a profit from her activities. As a politician I expect some guidance, campaigning, organizing, and other tasks from a Campaign Manager.
Xeno could never be an employer.... he thinks the Government shouod employ and provide for all. Kemp cannot be an employer... he thinks everyone should fend for themselves.
An employer not only wishes to better his/her condition, but wishes to do that with a service, product, or innovation to others and cannot do that alone.
We cannot buy into the meme that business is bad. A business survives by providing something someone else is willing and capable of buying. If they provide a crappy product (The HP Pad) no one will buy it (until they slashed the price to dump it).
While a Monopoly is undesirable in the extreme, normal competing businesses keep costs down, variety up, and quality up.
I am an employer and shall be one again.
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)
