Ok guys, i need your help, and hopefully its not all obese nerds out there!

I have always been exercising and doing sports, like 1-3 days a week, but since i started working last year, ive had significantly less time to play IC and exercise, and thus its going downhill!
Recently my girlfriend has taken to running, aiming for a marathon in a year or so, and the unthinkable scenario is getting close, she might actually outrun me!

Sooooooooooo.... I thought this would be a good project to keep me motivated! Help me out, comment on my training, give me tips, and yell at me if a skip training!

I mostly do running, but since i just bought a new roadbike, i try to get out on it as much as possible aswell. I will try to run 10km and time it within a few weeks, to get you an idea on where i stand. My long term goal is a half-marathon in october (i have got to beat my 3 younger brothers) and the said marathon in a year and a half.

So i will list my workouts, divided into weeks as i go through them, and give short comments:



Week 1:

Thuesday: Long ride by bike, 113km over 5 hours. At the end of the trip i swear i thought my legs were gonna fall off, and i had to make an emergency stop at a gas-station for a hot-dog and a bottle of Coke. Was good to get on my new bike and test it, however the seat is killing me and it really hurt my butt to get to work the rest of teh week.

Thursday: Easy running, 20 minutes of slow warmup and then 20 minutes on the lactic acid thresdhold. Legs still tired from the bikeride, but ok.

Sunday: Easy running, 20 minutes of slow warmup and then 20 minutes on the lactic acid thresdhold. Should really have managed a longer run, but the weather was snowstorm-ish and lack of motivation..

Have you considered using suppliments to get more even more energy? Legal stuff then ofc.

Also, a friend of mine that runs marathons always has atleast 1 time a week where its pure running up and down stairs. Indoor running is easier in case you wanna get your stamina up.

Indoor running wtf? On a threadmill or in like apartment stairs tongue  I prefer outdoors tho, live right next to moutains that i can run in.

Yes a treadmill. To work on your cardio that is easier then running outdoors!

I agree, its easier to isolate only the cardio, but tbh  i dont see me doing that with summer incomming... enjoy your gym guido!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First things first.

I am no expert, i'm working out to go for mass and strenght myself.
but seeing as your asking for help / advice

Get a dieeet program first, enough proteins, carbs and good fats. minarels, and vitamines. 
Dont workout 5 hours straight, that is counter productive. (burns up your musles)
sleep atleast 8 hours a day. (your body repairs itself and grows when you sleep)

mix cardio with strength training as you burn calories while you are lifting and also the next day when body repairs itself like nakushita says.

also if i remember correctly you are skinny as hell so you should try and get some muscles so your girlfriend stops fooling around on you with big americans.

If you want to improve yourself dont just run for 20 minutes.
thats plain boring and also doesn't work all that motivated and also you wont really be able to see if your improving.

Set a distance which takes lets say 20 minutes?
Than the next week do that same distance in 19 minutes
next week 18

Also maybe on another day go sprinting, than slow running, sprinting, slow run, springting.

Sticking to 1 routine might help in the beginning but in the end really slows down your progress. You have to keep changing your workout.

One more thing i heard when you run is to not always run the same distance, as your body gets used to it, instead of pushing yourself.

Considering you already have good stamina compared to me the following might not have much effect anymore but hey.

Start running for 5 minutes, then walk for 1 minuted. Keep doing that for an hour or more if you can sustain it. The next time you run 6 minutes and rest 1 minute, and so on....

113 km bike ride?! That's like 70 miles... Bloody hell... especially after only recently getting into cycling and deciding to train more seriously on a whim. Think you're a lot fitter than you think.

Half marathon should be a piece of cake for you tbh. What times are you looking to beat?
