Topic: Reasons China will cause a war.
Apologists stand aside. Pacifists quit your nonsense.
China is reaching a series of cross roads. They have social unrest issues coming up more and more often. Corruption abounds (school children used to make fireworks, land grabs, illegal and easily collapsed mines, patent/copyright infringements, dissapearances by police, beatings by police, military run corporations violating sanctions, etc.) But then there is also social media issues where flash anger happens.
The Chinese Government is also trying to balance minor reforms with staying in power.
Then the heaviest problem.... China will soon have up to 100 million men who will have 0 chance to get a wife.
The only solution this leadership will see is the need for a war. They need a crisis that will end a lot of angry Chinese males lives, restore the sex balance, reduce concerns about corruption, make other social issues seem less than the 'current crisis' and so forth.
China is an expantionist nation. Since Mao lead a revolution China has captured Tibet, attempted to capture Vietnam, fought a very significant fight with India, has involved itself in the Korean War, fought a minimum of three border skirmishes with Russia/USSR, has demanded (often with military threats) Tiawan rejoin them, has threatened military force for oil rich ocean regions contested by many nations (all mostly peaceful except China), and their generals/admirals talk quite a lot of smack.
Chinese culture also plays into this with the description of themselves as the Middle Land. A sense of superiority pervades their nation.
History also plays a role. I forget the dynasty but in ancient times the Chinese (who were then advanced beyond measure over Europe) eliminated their version of Patents and Copyrights (resulting in a decline larger and more strong than the dark ages ever caused Europe). This made their society the first major 'your intellectual creations are our creations' nation. To them anything that does not help Chinese society must be taken to enhance China or to be reduced so it cannot threaten China.
There is also a racist component. Certain heritages in China are seen as 'more Chinese' or more pure. While not as strong as the Japanese Gajiin (sp?) Heritage there is a distinct advantage of being a Han Chinese person over most others.
There will be war. It is already being prepared for. Will we sit idly while they prepare, or will we grow to make the cost of war to much for them, and force them to find an alternative way to handle their internal issues (such as a peaceful transition to a Republic, granting freedoms as such the USA has, and such)?
Ignorance is not strength.
